Re: Next project

Oh hello. This is still stickied, eh? Well, actually... I did restart work on it and I've got extraction and insertion going. I'm working on linebreaks which is actually tougher than in Policenauts! Hoping to release in 2020, but I've been on and off the project for years so ... Hope you all had a g...

My podcast intro

Hey all, this is slowbeef - I haven't been around in a bit, but you may remember me as being the Policenauts programmer/hacker guy. Anyhow, I've been doing a podcast about Let's Play (and retsupurae, my YouTube account) and a really awesome fan of mine, who knew how much I love Snatcher, decided to ...

Re: police badge and picture - need a little help :)

The highest uncompressed resolution in the game that I know of is the one in Jonathan's office in the beginning.

The one you're linking to is in the MOV file and under compression - so I don't know how to get you a better version given the game media itself.

Re: Ending problem with emulators (spoilers)

There really was no good fix for this, outside of remaking the end credits from scratch, which becomes problematic when you try and sync it up with the music.

It really is an emulator/video plugin default, not the hack - as Artemio says, the original Japanese game has these issues as well.

Re: Policenauts Emulation Guide

ePSXe seems to do a fairly decent job, though it hung after I did the change discs going between the first and second disc (it showed the next title card, then just sat there). The bit near the end in the lobby for some reason was all black before you get into the elevator and the rolling credits w...

That's why you need the e}i{ or P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU plugin. (Unless you had that already?)

Re: Feature requests for future versions

I don't speak Japanese, but I think there are subtitles missing at some point in the opening cut scene. I think the narrator mentions the date when the Policenauts started working in space, but there are no subs that tell us what the date is. I'll let Marc speak more to that, but that's intentional.

Do you mean memory card file?

You can convert them from pSX format to ePSXe and vice-versa with Memory Card Rex.

Re: Your CD-R Brand matters (if you wanna play on PS1 or PS2)

1x-4x burning speed...man, i hate that shize...where the hell am i going to find a cd burner from 2000? Its so strange too. The konami logo and intro dont work on disc 1 but they work on disc 2. Everything else works fine also. Its so...frustrating. There's nothing you can do about it for the intro...

I can't! That's ePSXe's deal, not Policenauts. There would be no possible way to do that in the game.

yep:

1. Not sure about the video jumping. I'll have to look more into it.

3. Yes, you actually cannot restart Policenauts once the game begins, believe it or not. I tried to add that in, but the way the game's coded, it was actually really difficult to do.

"Can't find the file specified." If the patch is giving you this error, and you are using Vista, right-click the ISO files you created and hit properties. Make sure the real file name is "Policenauts1.iso" and "Policenauts2.iso". Sometimes Vista hides the file extension...

Your CD-R Brand matters (if you wanna play on PS1 or PS2)

I completely forgot this. If you are playing on PS1 or PS2, your brand of CD-R matters for the intro movie. 1. You must burn the CD-R at 1x-4x (do 1x for best results). And you really should use a burner that absolutely does 1x-4x. Forcing the burner slower with programs like ImgBurn got me an intro...

Re: Possible English fandub of the voices?

No. Absolutely none of the voices are in XA whatsoever. In fact, the only thing in XA is the intro movie, which is why people are having trouble burning it.

The VOXs and the MOVs are in proprietary Konami compression (TM) so you would need something to go back and forth from MP3 to that.
