Win the PAL MGS HD Collection: Limited Edition for PS3
Hello. Sorry it's been a while since I last visited, and this borders on shameless promotion, but I thought I'd try and get some exposure for this. Two friends of mine run a videogame show called Bit Socket, and are running a competition for people to win the Limited Edition PAL PS3 version of Metal...

Re: A "new" MGS1
I remember a screen coming up after I completed the game, asking me to connect a PocketStation. I'd lost track of mine before I got the chance to try it though, unfortunately.

It takes a minute before disc 1 is finished patching. Give it five minutes after it displays the patching message, and see if it will let you start patching disc 2.

New European MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Snake Eater reissues
The PS2 versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater have recently been reissued in Europe. The differences in packaging are slight, but noticeable to fans. The games are now in the standard blue PS2 DVD cases, instead of the clear cases they originally came out in. ...

Re: Help me with my hdmi please
My HD-TV does this occasionally. I just turn the TV off, and on again, and it usually shows the PS3's XMB after that. Make sure to unplug your SCART, too.

Re: Project Itoh, 1974-2009
I remember some of the fantastic fanart Itoh drew for MetalGear.net, years ago. I was really impressed by his talent, and he was one of the main reasons I visited the site. I became something of a fan of his, and always remembered his artwork fondly whenever I saw his name mentioned on the internet....

http://lamemoiredupad.123.fr/wp-content/img/box_sfc_the_firemen.jpg Believe it or not, this one of the best, most cinematic games on the SNES. It's essentially an Alien Breed/Loaded-style top-down shooter, but with a firefighting theme. It's a really great game, but you'll struggle to find a copy (...

Whenever he's talked about more Metal Gear games, he's mentioned that he won't be directing it, or that he'd want to give it to another development team.

Lurking. I haven't had much to say about Kojima for a while, but I've been following this thread.Kojima_Devotee wrote: Where is 87th, anyway? I don't feel like buying God Hand, and I know it's because I haven't seen his avatar in a while.

Re: MGS5 Discussion
Well, they haven't officially announced "Metal Gear Solid 5", but Kojima has talked uncharacteristically candidly about ideas floating about for a sequel to MGS4. He's also been teasing fans with ideas of Raiden being the protagonist in the next MetalGear game. I doubt we'll see much of it...

Re: AVGN Metal Gear Review
I felt he was pussyfooting around, a little. It's obvious that he really doesn't like the game, but he makes an effort to call it "a classic", to appease the fanboys. He also suggests that the MSX2 version is untouchably fantastic (which I doubt he really believes). At one part, he critici...

Re: Policenauts prices keep going up on ebay WHY ??
I got Policenauts and Private Collection on the Ps1 both for $50 Australia dollars two years ago, around $25 US. Used, complete with spine cards, manuals and that weird CD bookmark. But I have the theory that once the translation project is complete ,prices will go up for the PS1 version. So if you...

Re: Current Project Status (1/14/09): Alpha Testing
How related is this game to Snatcher ? It's a separate game from Snatcher. The basic gameplay is similar though, with text-based adventure sections (though there's now a point-and-click aspect) and shooting sections (both of which are greatly improved). There are also a few cameos from Snatcher cha...

Re: Policenauts english patch to PS1, how would this work?
I've actually got a few copies of it (PlayStation, 3DO, 3DO Pilot Disc, PS3 PSN release, 2 Saturn copies) though I can't read Japanese, and I only understand a little spoken Japanese. I've played through the first hour or so, and I could appreciate the design and production values, and to an extent,...

Re: Policenauts english patch to PS1, how would this work?
There are discs that will let you play home-burnt PlayStation CDs on an unmodded system. I don't know too much about them, and they're not as convenient as having a mod chip in your system, but try searching for a "Breaker Pro", and you should find more information.

Re: Policenauts english patch to PS1, how would this work?
You won't need an official copy of Policenauts to use the patch (though that is more ethical). You just need to have an ISO dump of the game on your PC. The patch will be applied to that using specialist software. Once that is done, you can either run the game in a PlayStation emulator, or burn the ...

My modded PSone arrived today. Just tried burning disc 1 of Policenauts at x4 speed with ImgBurn. It seems to run perfectly. Thanks for the advice, Slowbeef. Re: Current Project Status (1/14/09): Alpha Testing
"Modded trick"? Is that a mod chip, or some kind of process that allows games to boot on one disc and then swap to another? Either way, if it can play games off a CD-R, it should play the translated Policenauts.

Re: Current Project Status (1/14/09): Alpha Testing
I'd suggest trying to burn your Japanese copy and play it first. I found we got best results when burning at 4x speed. If your burner doesn't go that slow, there's a program called ImgBurn which will force it to. Going too fast means the burner won't dye the ink dark enough, so the intro movie (Kon...

Re: Current Project Status (1/14/09): Alpha Testing
I finally ordered a chipped PSone, in anticipation for this coming out, now that the goal is near. I know I could have emulated it, but this way seems far more exciting (and I won't have to worry about any issues with the emulator, either).

Australia? That'll be the PAL one, then. It's pretty rare. I'd pick it up, if I were you.
