Re: Metal Gear Series not done yet?

Kojima has wanted to leave for years. Since MGS2. I know he said it, but I really believe it wasn't until developing MGS3 that he became serious about departing as director. You can see his interest start to wane as the series' creator, and perhaps he was disappointed that the project didn't live u...

Re: MGS4 port to 360

I can't quote specifics as to why MGS4 can't appear on the 360 - I'm not that technically savvy a person - but then, I don't think most people are who attempt to dissuade/pursue the idea. I certainly have no reason to believe Konami cannot do it, nor that they will attempt it. I don't care if it tak...

Re: The 'Last Film I Watched, And Next Film I Want To See' Topic

So you've seen every Kurosawa film, from his earliest (The Most Beautiful, The Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail) to his very last (Madadayo)? Kudos to you if that's the truth, and I can understand your regret (I had similar feelings seeing all the works of Bresson), but there's so many great films ...

Re:

From the few Kurosawa films I've seen, I must say Yojimbo is the only one I didn't like. It felt kind of... pointless. Same with its remake, For a Fistful of Dollars . Just had to respond to this. Read any good bit of film criticism about Yojimbo, and you'll see the film is far from being just esca...

I think no. I might be wrong. I might burn in hell. I try not to care.

Of recent films, I've seen We Own the Night, American Gangster, and Michael Clayton, all excellent films, all well-worth seeing. I don't feel like explaining their appeal, but if anyone would wish to ask me, I'll tell you.

The term 'hard-boiled' means very little nowadays - it's truly a shame.

Any word on whether the Final Cut is going to get further distribution, or is that about it until the DVD release?

I watched The Bodyguard today for the first time... What a creature of it's time lol... I wonder what it means when Kevin Costner plays the perfect completely boring man. The climax at the awards show was surprisingly badass.... But other than that, it suffered from something common to that time's ...

I'm not much interested in driving simulators either (can't I drive in real life?), but I have to say the GT franchise doesn't seem nearly as special now that Forza is on the market.

How do you think MGS3's storyline fares to MGS2?

Spoilers seem likely in this kind of discussion. I felt prompted to bring it up based on a debate over on GameFAQs, as well as the comments from one of those board's regulars, a piece of shit that goes by the name of Lionhart. I'd like to hear fellow Junker member's opinions on the matter, knowing t...

Anyone seen Hard Candy? Ugh.... I wanted to like this one, as I was expecting a pretty good character study given the premise, but was woefully let down by what they delivered. It's a shame, because the film had much promise before the filmmakers completely exploited it for a few cheap thrills.

Another question before I decide to buy: Is MGS3 the Subsistence version or just the standard version? I know they didn't include any of the Snake VS. APE stuff in the collection, but does it at least have the improved camera?

Nah, it's just because they had a lot more disc space and Kojima wrote the game without any constraints. The program and graphic data was only about 18MB combined. The rest was devoted to sound, and even after that they still had half the disc left. When it came time to port it, they realized it co...

Anyone catch The Ox-Bow Incident last night? Very good film, remarkably honest for its time and very bleak. The direction is a bit dated by today's standards, but it features some terrific performances. If you have the chance, you should definitely check it out.

Why should it even bother people? If for some reason being handed several cents in change is an annoyance to you, then give it to someone who sees the value (and long-term savings) of holding onto change. There's nothing more irritating than the people who can do nothing better with their pennies th...

Well, I suppose it has a bigger draw in Japan, where the Japanese do everything through their phones. Gaming through their mobiles is probably second-nature by now, especially considering the quality of their games far exceeds anything we're typically used to seein in the west.

There are a few screenshots on GameFAQs. I think it looks pretty impressive for a mobile phone (a slight step-up from MGS1, at least detail wise), and shows off the game as being your traditional top-down Metal Gear experience that we've all come to love. Hopefully it won't remain isolated to mobile...

Metal Gear Solid: Mobile?

I checked out a few screenshots of this, and was wondering what's it all about? From what I hear, it's supposedly canonical side-events that take place during MGS2's timeline, with the player once again in control of Solid Snake. I don't know anything more than that, but the speculations currently c...

For Rourke fans, check out Michael Cimino's Year of the Dragon. It's a great cops vs. criminals flick (set in Chinatown) with some intense action and plenty of un-PC views of Asian-Americans, which is always a plus.

I've got mixed feelings on remaking the original MG titles, while it would be nice to have them fleshed out to coincide with the series current canon, I wouldn't want them screwing around with what are essentially "classic" games. In addition, just look at TTS and what a debacle that turn...
