Re: Some topics disappeared? (rollback?) O_o
So.. what have you guys been up to? Persona 5. I haven't finished it yet but, so far, a fantastic game! Way better then the spins offs of Persona 4 we've had for the past 8 years (Arena and Dancing All Night were garbage). Also been meaning to finish Echo Night 2 and Saturn Policenauts. I got half ...

Re: Some topics disappeared? (rollback?) O_o
Glad to see the forums back up. When I saw it down on Thursday I thought "well, that's it. Junker HQ is dead".
On another note, it’s mid-2015 again. Who’s ready for Phantom Pain to release in the next 2-3 months?

Re: Emulating Policenauts in 2013
Just a quick bump.
Mednafen has seen allot of progress the past year and is now a bit more optimized for lower end PC's.
However, I have also gotten a better PC and I'm able to run this now at max fps.
Verdict: Best PSX emulator out there! Throw ePSXe out the window!

Liquid Sky
Just discovered yet another film reference that's inside Snatcher. Remember that druggy from Snatcher that "only took Liquid Sky"? (Timed Link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUkIbxnctmQ&t=16m36s Well this is a reference to Slava Tsukerman's 1982 indie film, Liquid Sky. http://www.turk...

Yeah it looks smudged up, not exactly what I prefer either.TechNoir wrote: I think it's too blurry, stick with the ePSXe.
Though it's also stretched to wide screen, voiding its originial aspect ratio (full screen 4:3).
Stretching it to widescreen makes everything look off.

Re: Best Visuals for Policenauts
And I thought scanlines were useless things that just made the screen darker. Definitly not. The scanlines on old CRT's were, for the most part, taken into consideration when making the graphics for older console games. Think of it like grain on older movies. EDIT: Looks like Artemio beat me to the...

Re: Best Visuals for Policenauts
Thanks man, it took sometime figuring out how retroarch works, but after i managed to figure out everything and loaded up Policenauts with a dithering shader the game looked great. One thing so far is that I don't see any mouse support, but i can deal with using a controller. Mednafen does have mou...

Re: Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain
While I was reading the staff roll at the end of Ground Zeroes I noticed that Marc was listed as one of the four translators / editors working for INTAC / INTAC Plus. I think that's worth mentioning. Wow, your right! Take a look, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47184537/credits.jpg Here's the c...

Re: Policenauts Sega Saturn Translation
Bad news, well, I wanted to tell this later: Marc just emailed me saying that he's leaving the project because of RL and professional reasons. Good news is that he knows another translator to finish the Saturn job. We're currently starting the talks with this fellow. This is unfortunate though unde...

Yes ePSXe is now version 1.9.0. It introduces allot of fixes. The plugin improvements that have happened since 2009 are PEOPS DSound getting several unofficial updates that actually drastically improve sound quality and a new GPU plugin named gpuBladeSoft that is currently the most accurate GPU plug...

Re: Blackmore: A Steampunk Adventure Game - Kickstarter
There's just not enough people for this genre of gameplay. I don't think this exactly true. There is a market for this type of game and I believe the success of games like Phoenix Write and 999/Virtue's Last Reward proves this. Why this game isn't getting funded is most likely in the kickstarter ca...

Your response makes me think this is somehow explained in the Saturn version.

Re: Is this a goof?
Redwood's brother was in fact a frozener...right (it makes sense that he would be, but I can't remember whether he was or not)? I haven't done a playthrough of Policenauts for about two years. However, my gut reaction is that this is just a writing goof.

You can't see the ".bat" part because you have file extensions invisible in your windows folder options. To disable this, follow this. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions#show-hide-file-name-extensions=windows-7 After this, you will be able to see file...

Re: Can't patch Policenauts?
Okay, let me see if I can help you. First step, use ImgBurn and keep the format as a BIN. Once it's done ripping, rename the BIN image to Policenauts1.iso (NOTE: renaming it to Policenauts1.iso should remove the .bin extension, so make sure you have file extensions visible in windows folder options)...

Hmm, that is strange. Do you happen to have a PSone (not a PS1)? The later revision of the PlayStation that looks like this. http://media.engadget.com/img/product/27/lec/psone-2es0.jpg This revision introduced a duel region check system. First when it reads it from the copy protection and another at...

Re: A question about burning Policenauts on disc?
All PS1 games are region locked. With that being said, the region information and the copy protection are both stored on the same section of a PS1 pressed disk and are both checked at the same time. In other words, if your using a modchip/Game Enhancer to avoid the copy protection, you are also avoi...

Re: A question about burning Policenauts on disc?
Yes, it's okay. The iso image file will be over 700mg, but it will all fit on a 700mg CD-R. Also, try to use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden CD-R. I have come to find out that Memorex is a bit hit or miss in the quality department. When you buy Memorex it's a 50-50 chance you will either get a batch that wa...

Yeah, as TechNoir said, Policenauts was never released outside of Japan. Though there is an unofficial English translation patch for the PlayStation version of the game; made by Artemio Urbina, Marc Laidlaw and Michael Sawyer (with Artemio being the man that owns this site). I don't know where your ...

Re: Who sell on Ebay Policenauts?
There hasn't been a physical print run for Policenauts in well over a decade. Brand new prices are going to fetch that much wherever you look.
I would just settle for a one that's like new, which you can get for 20-30.

This whole thing feels wrong, even for an amoral pirate like me. Maybe that's precisely why you feel that way. And I am not judging, it just makes sense from your perspective. Yeah, exactly my thoughts as well. People are generally quick to persecute people that sell their emulators/fan translation...

Re: Policenauts Sega Saturn Translation
Since the Saturn version introduces quite a few changes anyway, I hope you'll look at it as more of a Blade Runner: The Final Cut than a Star Wars Special Edition. Ah yes, that is a much better thought! If were only talking five or so lines then this really isn't a major change. I can live with out...

Re: Policenauts Sega Saturn Translation
Okay, so here's a question: how do you guys feel about the altering of lines? Obviously typos will be fixed, but what I mean is changing the translation of a handful of lines because in the time between the original project and this project, I've come up with better ways of saying them. This is sor...

Re: Feature requests for future versions
Yeah, the mode is mostly a novelty thing. I would imagine certain people in Japan in 1994 would have liked the idea of playing the game the same way they did with the original Snatcher on the PC-88. Though besides that, it doesn't make to much sense to anybody else...That's probably why it wasn't in...
