Re: Policenauts VS. Snatcher.....which do you prefer?
There is a shoot-out scene on the moon when Ed and Jonathan are trying to get to the pod launcher and are ambushed by some Goddard units. Jonathan uses his recoil gun and some armor piercing rounds to take them down. Keep in mind that he's not using a lift gun, so how can he shoot that armored suit...

Re: The ending explained...
I think Salvatore actually ended up succumbing to his miserable life. If you remember, he went through two divorces and quit BCP. Without any purpose in his life, he once again joined up with Gates and Tokugawa. He also went on about space driving people to the point of insanity, maybe he was crack...

Re: The ending explained...
I honestly think the only one whom you could complain who's overall plan was just that of greed and nothing more, was Tokugawa. Chris, Redwood, Salvatore and Gatse were more complex then that I reckon. Lets not forget Ishida, who was in the end up, against everybody. I found it wonderfully refreshi...

Re: The ending explained...
Not true, big boss was just evil in metal gear 1 and 2. Snatchers were just red evil comunist robots who wanted to take on the world. And the thing with the boss's bone narrow could be just a trap to attract Johanatan to the final duel. Indeed, but keep in mind that MG1 had barely any plot and MG2'...

Re: The ending explained...
Kojima loves these old school plot devices. It's just a cheap way of cluing the reader in, and I actually do think the MASTER PLAN itself does make sense in this case (it's just a greed and power thing of the sort that actually does happen. Recently here in New Jersey they broke a huge corruption s...

Re: Feature requests for future versions
tokugawa calls johnatan urashima before ed, but it is actually refering to the fact the johnatan is still young for being frozen in space while all the other guys became old: urashima taro spent some days in the ocean and when he returned home everyone was old and gone and he was still young. or so...

Re: The ending explained...
Yeah, I know it's a cliché, but still... In Snatcher, the way it is explained it makes sense, in all the Metal Gear it makes sense (maybe minus MG1), but here in Policenauts, it's like... what the hell were they thinking? I wonder if it is really intended to be that way: in the Lethal Weapons, the v...

The ending explained...
So, I'm finally done with Policenauts. I thought it was fun for the most part and that the translation was very well done, but... I'm not sure I understand the ending nor the villains' master plan. Either something is lost in the translation or Kojima's writing is at fault. So from what I understand...

Re: Feature requests for future versions
Thanks. So it's basically the japanese equivalent of Pandora's box. Considering Ed's nationality, maybe a reference to Pandora would have been a bit more appropriate. But anyway...Artemio wrote:From Wikipedia:... Urashima Tarō...

Re: Feature requests for future versions
Just a quick question, BTW: what does "URASHIMA TARO" mean? Ed keeps mentioning it for some reason. I heard it's a japanese legend, but I don't get its relevance to the events and why you decided to not translate it.

Re: Help needed on Policenauts since there's no FAQ yet
How do you dodge civilian vehicles during the motorcycle chase? Every once in a while a truck appears in the middle lane, and Ed doesn't seem to know any better than to crash into it, thus draining a good chunk of health. Shooting at the trucks make them move out of the way, but I still lose health ...
