That gun was responsible for Snatcher being the only game to ever make me physically leap out of my chair.

The gun was on the ground, you see, and I hadn't seen a shooting section for some 2 hours or so.

Good times :)

I have heard that there exist certain pirated images (isos) out there which cause both of those problems when running on an emulator, although from what I've heard the turbocycle loop is more common. Solutions: Get a different disc image, preferably a real copy if you can find/afford it Get a real S...

I apologize if you've all seen this before...

but Beneath a Steel Sky is now freeware, I think you can find the game and a wrapper program to make it run on modern computers at scummvm.sourceforge.net

Enjoy!

Seconded. This program is so much nicer than having to write out the cuesheets by hand. *shudder*

I recommend Slaughterhouse Five to everyone on this board, since most Kojima fans I've had the pleasure of chatting with like an unusual narrative, and Slaughterhouse Five does a couple of things that make the style rather unique, but are still very effective storytelling techniques. For example, mo...

Oh, I saw this on another news site, I forget which one. Basically, Sony has patented a device which can affect the neural timings in the human mind (via ultrasound I think), which can result in the affected person seeing images and hearing sounds. Right now it's a head-mounted device, but they migh...

How often does the battery discharge, do you think? I mean, it was only a couple weeks between saving and trying to load for me. If your saves have been working since then, it is very likely that the contact between the battery and the system was lost momentarily. It only takes a second for that st...

I have been born and rasied in California, USA... and let me attest that the American English language is so riddled with tradition and modifications as to make it practically unintelligible.

Makes for some great puns though.

If you've got a real Sega CD copy of Snatcher, just burn a copy of that if you're trying to protect the original. On the other hand, if all you have is an ISO, just burn it straight to a CD using your favorite burning software. I recommend Alcohol 120% but it's something like $50. I don't even think...

I take it, Painaxl, that you already know that the Sega CD machines can play burned CDs without modification, since you're playing Snatcher, and that game is friggin' hard to find these days. As for the light gun, the people here have it all right: - you do need the justifier, although I have heard ...

I'm quite a believer in the philosophy that remakes are best done when trying to take something bad and turn it into something good. I originally spouted this philosophy in reference to musical remixes and covers, but I think it applies here. There is of course the trend that regardless of how good ...

This is kind of a crappy suggestion, but I have heard that the people who enjoyed and were able to follow the story in MGS2 tend to be the same people who liked the Xenogears and Xenosaga games, although the gameplay is totally different (they're RPGs). The only similarity is that the stories get re...

2.5D was also used to describe games that take place in 3D but have mostly sprites populating the world, such as the early FPS games (Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D). I don't think that's relevant here, but I thought it at least bears mentioning. I'm not so much against the idea of overhauling an ...
