Snatcher poster

Post by Marc »

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but here's something I acquired when I was living in Japan several years ago. I'd been planning on waiting until I got a frame for it to share a picture, but goodness knows when that'll be, so here she is.

The manual on the left is for size comparison. The text on the lower-right says "Illustrated by Yuji Kaida" and at the bottom it says "© 1992 KONAMI All rights reserved." I think you can read the charming Engrish on the bottom-left.

A thousand bonus points if you can name any of the books holding it down. :P

I don't know what the books are, but I do know for a fact that this poster was made specifically for the release of the PC Engine version.

I also know for a fact that this poster is a colorized upgrade of the front cover for the User's Manual from the original PC-88/MSX versions.

That's really cool! Any idea where it came from? (walkthrough, magazine, stand-alone poster, etc.)

I was really hung-over this morning, so I decided to spend my day playing Snatcher. Can't say I regret my decision (especially since I felt like shit as soon as I first stood up, so that limited my options). I'm a bit more enthusiastic about the game today than I usually would be.

Don't have a goddamn clue what the books are. One on the right may be some computer game book tho. Mod, walkthrough, how to program or something. Can't enlarge it well enough and keep resolution detail...

Get a good movie poster for that cool poster! It will so be worth it! 8)

Or just hit B, B & B....

Schweeeet!

But Snatcher I think your collection was already incomplete... If you remember, I put you onto a lead for a Konami soundtrack with Snatcher tracks you didn't have....(I found it in Japan). I even gave you the KICA for it... any chance you can dig out the post?

I see that I never updated the Snatcher page... but here's the topic in which I posted that I got it.

viewtopic.php?p=7583#7583

But there is one other elusive item that might never be in my hands, and I am not refering to the SD Snatcher figurines...

It is a soundtrack. Let's see if someone knows about it.

The bottom-right book is Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner.

You're right on both counts. :)

It's a stand-alone promotional poster.

I'll try and do this sometime. :)

No plans to sell it anytime soon, sorry. I'd love to get Kojima to sign it at an event sometime. Be even funnier if it were a Project S event with Kojima and Suda.

Isn't there already a soundtrack for SD Snatcher called SCC Memorial Joint Disc, which is a collection of songs from the MSX version of Snatcher and SD Snatcher?

Yes. I do have a the soundtrack. But there is one other version of it that I don't have.

I imagined so since you hadn't mentioned it before.. I was somewhat scared by the terms "sacrifice" and "firstborn" that 8bitsonic mentioned by MSN...

That's right, the ENDING COLLECTION. I remember that post now - sorry.

That casette, man... I've seen that nowhere before, and believe me when I say that I have trawlled through a huge amount of games stores, both retro mainstream and very rural retro unknown super-stores in 4 trips to Japan.

The thing is, as soon at Metal Gear 4 comes out - Snatcher's Snatcher collection will never be complete - what with the link to Metal Gear Mk.II.

On a completely diffeent side note.
I never hear much about the robot in Probotector on the Sega MegaDrive (Contra Hard Corps)... He kinda looks a little like Metal Gear.
