Post SNATCHER - 3D Remake (WIP) ***UPDATED 6-22-16***
Image

ABOUT THE PROJECT : Snatcher (3D Remake) is a "Stand Alone" game based on the Hideo Kojima game Snatcher.
***This project is un-official/not supported by Konami, and when it's released it will be %100 FREE!***

The game is currently running on the Unreal Engine 4, and a release date is TBA.
The goal of this project is to faithfully re-create the original 2D game in an explorable 3D world.

*This project will (does) support the Oculus Rift VR Headset (HMD), and Oculus Touch VR Motion Controllers*
**I would also like to support other HMD's, and Motion Controllers in the future if it is possible**

Oh hay, Ash.

Sorry I couldn't get the tools today, as I have a big airsoft game tomorrow.

I'll be able to get started soon, though.

You should show them that fantastic screen of the Konami Omni Building, though.

There is no coding skill involved, so you can document yourself and see if you have the abilities required by the team and help them. Scripting might be a part of their work, but there are tools to help there as well.

Exactly! thanx Artemio...

Right now I'm working on the Mapping / Modeling and Planning Aspect of the game on this NEW engine, I won't need to do any Coding / Programming for awhile!

just like Artemio said...mostly scripting and things are being done now as far as Coding...if anything...and i can handle that for now.

Anubis : do you have any experience mapping / modeling, or with software like Softimage XSI or 3D Studio Max????? PM me!

Everything's looking fantastic! Did the other projects make it this far? It seems to me that things are moving at a pretty fast clip.

Yeah work is moving along REALLY fast with the CryEngine2!

I planned and came up with almost everything i'm doing now back in 2003.
the "other" game engines never panned out....I'd find a BIG hurdle that the engine couldn't jump....so I'd jump to another engine (wich is why I've used about 3 or 4 now for the MOD).

With the CryEngine2 i have "realtime lighting" and ZERO "compile" times! ...so work is VERY easy to do, I have done about 2 years of work (if I was on "Source") in 3 months with the CryEngine2!

I pretty much work on the MOD everyday, wich reminds me....I'm going to update the Yahoo! Group after this post!
tons of new screens! ...and btw: HAPPY CATASTROPHE DAY!

First I'd just like to say this project looks and sounds like it could be quite fantastic, from what you've shown to us in these early stages. My only hope is, that when finished this game doesn't perform as bad as Crysis does. Since most of us know what a hog it can be. If it did, I would guess it might hurt the popularity of it, by limiting the people who could run it to the higher end PC crowd. For all the flaws you mentioned above that Source Engine has, one great thing about most Source mods is that they perform well on a variety of system specs.

I have a VERY tough time working on the MOD as well as playing Crysis, I only get about 5-15fps in the actuall game on all lows!

it's a sad fact, but everyone with a single core PC has got to upgrade in the next 2 years.

I'm doing this entire project by myself....because I REALLY like "Snatcher"!
it's pretty much a project for myself that I plan on "sharing" with anyone who is interested....
wich happens to be this great "Snatcher" community....because you guy's seem to have the love for this old kojima game that i have.

I'm sorry if some of you....maybe most of you won't be able to play this when i release it, but just think you have about 2 years or so of waiting and possible upgrading.

I am working with the CryMod community / Crytek to make shure i get the MOST frames and quality out of the engine.
either way I'll be doing my best so that people can enjoy my/kojimas work in a new way.

Can somebody please change "SNACTHER MOD" to "SNATCHER MOD"? I don't mean to get snappy about a typo, but it really annoys me when I'm looking through the page. Thanks.

Wow, that was perceptive. I think my mind automatically changes what I see if something looks like the word snatcher.
Anyway, about the old computer thing. I have a laptop from 1998, and I'm currently borrowing a 2003 laptop from someone. Neither of these could ever play crysis. The trick is to buy a new computer sooner than later, and even if it takes me 4 years to buy one good enough to play crysis, I'll still be able to experience it anyway (just a little late). So it's not really urgent that everyone here buy one immediately, but it's pretty important for people in the gaming community to have nicer computers. (I don't even play any real games on my laptops, but it's still good to have a nice one).

I'm working on cleaning up this thread abit...LOL! #-o

 I added 2 NEW shots from the MOD to the "top" images, and got rid some of the older images.
I just finished updating ALL of the links....the Youtube, CryMod and Yahoo Group are updated with the most recent images!

I'm still working my ass off on the MOD, hopefully it shows? ...hope you like what you see so far!

Post Re: The "SNATCHER MOD" ***UPDATED 7-16-08***
Everyone starts somewhere...

I never touched a modeling program until a few months ago, now I'm learning...and making models.
I've been a gamer forever, always dabbled here and there with "modding", but the Snatcher MOD is my first %100 effort at making a game....and I'm actually enjoying it ALOT, eventhough it's also ALOT of work.

I don't expect anyone to be able to just pick up computers and all of these programs and junk...LOL! But if it's something you love....you can find a way to make it happen.

Probebly by the end of the year I'll be far enough along with the MOD to involve the whole community here in the project itself, so don't worry if you can't do anything...but be a snatcher fan...because that's all i'm going to need....when the time comes I'll fill everyone in.

I don't know how many "Snatcher" fans here are Yahoo members (or members of the Snatcher MOD Yahoo Group)?

I Have posted some images showing some "early" work on the inside of the "Kremlin", and a VERY early shot of the "city" from the "intro"...they are also posted in the "group".

I'm sorry i don't post the images here, it seems the Forums aren't set up for that...It displays a pretty big image that doesn't do much but make for ALOT of scrolling down the page...LOL! (wish it was abit like the CryMod forums...with "auto" thumbnails...but it's ok).

here's 2 of those images though....

Enjoy
