Snatcher Poster

Post by Artemio »

Well.. what can I say. I got this beauty as a gift, a completely unexpected one and was really surprised when I got this last week. Completely out of the blue from a great friend.

It really is a piece of my Snatcher collection that I wasn't planning on getting my hands on for a while. Even after I got the Snatcher cassette tape, I was looking forward to years of waiting to maybe get a shot at owning it. But right now it is hanged here in my room.

And I love how it looks.

Here are some of the pictures I took since I got it last Thursday up to tonight when I hanged it on my room. You can click on the images and get the full sized version.

Image
The first pic I took just after it arrived.

Image
Then a couple of days later, the poster just outside the shop after framing.

Image
Here's how it looks hanged on my wall, accompanied by all versions of the game.

Image
Here's a close up, where the texture of the original can be appreciated.

Image
And here's a scan of it, it is fairly big for those of you who might be interested.

There are a few more images of it at http://flickr.com/photos/artemiourbina/ ... 225145657/ if you are inclined.

I can't thank enough the kind soul that sent me this gift. Yes I am talking about our dear friend Marc. Thanks you very much my friend.

hmm... so if this is so rare that you have not seen it after that anywher. Is it possible that it isn't 'official item'?

My guess is it was one of the prizes you could get for mailing in the tokens from the Snatcher Pilot Disk and PC Engine Snatcher (this calendar was one such prize you could get), as its copyright says 1992. It feels like a legit item to me.

It is higly doubtful it is not legit. For instance, the quality of the paper and printing is superb, not likely of pirated goods back in 1992. But most importantly, there is no source that has the resolution or layout to create it. Just open the scan of photos and view them in full resolution.

Would it be possible if you could scan it or take a hi-res photo of it?

Yeah, that's another one reason why i would like to have hi-res image of that. But mostly i'd like to use it on graphics and edit some cool desktop wallpapers. And i think just clear front shot with camera would do the trick if Artemio thinks it would be too much messing to take poster out of frames and find scanner big enough to scan it. ;)

The last image is a scan of Gillian form the Poster, scaled down quiet a bit. please view the full res image at flickr. But Scanning the whole thing would be out of the question, I'd need to scan around 10 or 12 segments to cover the full image, and then paste them together (which never works fine).

Although if you want that same image at 1200 dpi (450 MB), i can provide that (the uploaded version is 600dpi and 40% of the original scan size)

Cool poster, but it would be even cooler to have one of the PC Engine cover.

Did you try this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/artemiourb ... 3/sizes/o/ the one I emant above? I scaled it to this since I considered it sufficient, the 1200 dpi showed only the texture of the paper.

The photos are also up there in their original resolutions.... I had mentioned that already in the original post as well.
