Post My SNATCHER Merchandise Scans (Manuals/Books/Guides)
I've found as a fan/collecter over the years that the merchandise is rare, and not viewable anywhere to the fans (beyond what is here at JHQ)...
So I'll be making all of my Snatcher merchandise viewable from cover to cover (scanned), and available for download.

I've been a HUGE Snatcher fan of Snatcher for a very long time! (1991)
This little project was inspired by Artemio's amazing contributions here at JHQ!

Snatcher Items (My Collection) UPDATED ON - 8-29-16:

(Green = Scanned / Red = Not / Blue = WIP)

1. Snatcher - No Subete (all about snatcher)
2. Snatcher - CD-ROMantic Official Guidebook
3. Snatcher - Pilot Disk Manual
4. Snatcher - PC-Engine Manual
5. Snatcher - Sega Saturn Manual
6. Snatcher - Sega CD Manual

I don't have physical copies of the MSX, PC-88, PSX, or SD versions of Snatcher (yet).

NOTE : I'm risking the condition of some of my near mint items by un-binding them, but sharing is caring, so fuck it! \:D/

Here's a few images as an example :
**The first 2 images are older scans with binding/staples. The scan labeled 2K is one of the "new" scans. **

I say scan what you can without damaging the item, but if you fear cracking a spine or something like that, a good photo might work too.

I'm always curious to see new Snatcher related artwork.

I thank you guys for your interest, and hopefully more people vote!
I don't mind slightly messing up the condition of my merch if it allows more people to enjoy it!

Here's a crappy photo of my Snatcher/Policenauts Merch!

You shold get the PS1 version. It's really cheap and id be interested in seeing the manual for that one. But scanning whatever you can is good too.
I also heard the PC-8801 & MSX2 version's manual is exactly the same in both versions.

I'll be getting the PSX and Mega CD versions, but the MSX and PC-88 versions sell for around $200 to $400 each depending and I don't even have the MSX/PC-88 hardware.

I'll hopefully be getting a new scanner soon though!

Cool, considering I already have the Saturn version. (Bought it off Amazon around Christmas for about $30) Worth every penny though, considering it was in great condition. (I.E. no scratches/one tiny crack on the back of the case) (Missing Spine Card, Registration card, and Stickers, though)
Atleast MSX2s arent relativly all that hard to come by, if you are a serious ebay user.

I accidently purchased 2 copies of the Sega Saturn version a while back so I've got 2 sets of stickers/cards etc...
I meant to buy the PSX and Saturn versions and not a duplicate DOH! ;(

Well if you have a few hundred dollars to loan me to purchase the game(s) and/or hardware I'd gladly accept LOLZ!

Lol! Hahaha...
It's always handy to have 2 copies of something. Play the one that's in lesser condition, so the better one stays in good shape. =)

Edit: So, it's been nearly a year; did you get a new scanner or has this been forgotten?
I'd be very interested in seeing the fruits of this idea.

Funny you mentioned this as it's been on my mind lately...
Since I'm finishing up the "Script" project I was looking at my other projects to see what's next on the list and this is it.

I have not forgotten, but no I built a new PC rather than get a new scanner lol!
I figured the remake project I'm doing would benefit more by having a new PC (which it has greatly!)

In spetember I am getting a new scanner and so I'll complete this little project!

Cool. Nice to see you've still been thinking about it.
Can't wait to see what comes of this.

Post Re: My Snatcher Merchandise Scanned Manuals/Books etc.
What do you guys want as a file size for downloads? :-k
*I'll be scanning at 1200 DPI (highest DPI this borrowed scanner can do)*

I'm scanning merch now (have to clean it all up), so stay tuned for updates!
I know it's been years since I updated this thread here...better late than never lol! :-$

EDIT : File sizes so far are around 200-300MB per page (which is 2 pages for the game manuals).
I will include 2 versions of the scans for each item, as the original scans (unbound pages), and ordered scans (bound in page format).

I have attached images of an example of the "bound" and "unbound" versions below.
Unbound is how I scanned them. Bound is how you would view the manuals normally.

Scanning in progress!

Snatcher - CD-ROMantic Official Guidebook

This book is going to take a little while lol! (10min per page @ 110+ pages)
*I had to carefully un-bind it all first. Image below shows a page scanned (the only page with binding)*

That "DESIRE" sign was originally going to appear in the prologue of Policenauts. Several of the letters would flicker on and off. The camera would cut to it and it would spell out "DIE" right as the car bomb went off.

No idea... :-k

I have to look into a hosting situation etc. I was thinking torrent, but open to ideas.
I just don't know of anywhere for free to host the gigs of data I'd need to take up.

At 4gb of data for just a single item without alternates (x2 page / size) I'd have to split single items into dozens of files.
My collection is 6+ items (Policenatus stuff also), so I'm looking at 20+ gigs, but it's actually going to be 40+ gig (+ alternates) lol!

I work in print and scanning at 1200 dpi doesn't really make sense.

Most print media files are only built at a resolution of 300-400 dpi honestly.

For gathering and organizing large image files online I really like Flickr actually. A dedicated Tumblr page would be fun too.

I'd rather see your project happen at a lower resolution than not at all. Perfect is the enemy of "done". :)

I scanned them at the highest resolution, because I basically ruined my merch to scan it, so I figured why not go for overkill? lol!
I'll release the work in whatever size the community here wants, but nobody has spoken up until now, so if you guys can decide on a smaller size then that is what I'll do.

Flikr? Hmmm I could check that out, as I said suggestions are welcomed, and appreciated!

Thanx as always Nick!

I managed to find a PDF of the SD Snatcher manual on a Dutch site of all things, but I don't know if I will ever find the manual for the original version. I heard that they used the exact same manual in both computer versions, no changes whatsoever.

So is there an average size for the downloads you guys would like to see?

I guess 1080p (1980x1200) is the "default" viewing size these days?
I personally prefer 2k or 4k resolutions for things if I had the option.

As soon as you guys can decide on a good overall size I'll start re-sizing and sharing!

POLL IS UP, SO VOTE!

That "2K" file looks pretty good in your first post.
