Hi guys/galls

My name is J-F founder of CollectorVision Games (collectorvision.com)
Over the last 6 years, I've been publishing and creating homebrew games

Last year, I re-played my favorite game of all time; Snatcher on SegaCD
I though about making a remake of Snatcher for quite some time now

Well, I finally to go foward and start working on the a Dreamcast version of Snatcher using slightly modified SegaCD graphics

Here's some of the goals we want to achieve for the Dreamcast version

- Region free supporting both NTSC & PAL
- Support multiple language (At least, English, Japanese & French)
- Support Sega CD graphics along with the new DX graphics
- Get all songs remix + original Sega CD songs
- Use original english Sega CD voice tracks
- Support for VGA adapter
- Support for both Regular Controller & Dreamcast Keyboard/Mouse
- Support VMU (obviously!)

Here's WIP of graphics

Hello there, and congrats on staring the project.

I don't know what environment you are using, but I'd add a few bullets there:

*) Support for 240p output mode
*) Support for simulated scanlines in 480p/VGA mode

I have experience using KallistiOS on Dreamcast, let me know if you need any help.

Noted! Thanks!

Right now, I'm looking for someone who's able to program on Dreamcast (money offered)

Anyone knows where I could find the SegaCD soundtrack (music) of Snatcher?

I guess you are either already using my Sega CD PCM/WAV dumper, or you made your own. In case you haven't, here it is: http://junkerhq.net/Snatcher/PCM2WAV/

There is no such thing as a Sega CD soundtrack. The OST is composed of tracks from SD Snatcher, Snatcehr CD romantic and new compositions only available on Sega CD.

Yes, I used your PCM/WAV dumper and it's fabulous! Thanks!

Someone made a remix of Pleasure of Tension on youtube and it's simply amazing!
Do you know if he's a member here?
Would love to use this one for sure!

it's WIP so I know its probably early, but I'm not exactly a fan of these upscaling method used here. It looks smudgy and there's a loss in details for a few shots.

As for the guy who did that Pleasure of Tension remix, I'm not sure if OtakuDee is a member here but I know Ash is using his music for his Crysis Engine remake.

Thanks for the inputs
Do you have a better proposition?

That is why I suggested having the original 240p mode available, I've used the mode even via RGB on my 240p Suite code in the Dreamcast and it looks amazing.

Nothing definite atm. I was thinking maybe upscale from the Playstation/Saturn version for some shots? But then there's some redone art for these versions I'm not a fan of and having some from the 32-bit version and others from the 16-bit version would be inconsistent.

Meh, it was an idea. Having an option for the original graphics would reduce complains to bickering... Unless I'm reading Artemio's 240p mode request wrong.

No offence, but the graphics are bad. Better not to filter 'em, just add some effects, like in the second screenshot.

I love Dreamcast homebrew. I also love Snatcher. I would certainly play the shit out of this! Seems like a great project, can't wait to play it

Hi! Good luck on your project, sounds very interesting. Here's a couple of tips (Being a bit biased here):
- There's a Spanish translation project on EOL where you can ask for their texts here: http://www.elotrolado.net/hilo_proyecto ... ol_1790142
- There's one main lacking feature that any non-English speaker would sure appreciate you add, if this is a remake and not a port: Subtitles for all the voices.

But what about the 'talking heads'?

As far as I know, they have no subs either.

I think what Technoir is trying to bring across is that because of where the talking heads are subtitles might be problematic. Heck, Policenauts had talking heads during some scenes on PC and when they started putting subtitles in ALL the scenes on console the talking heads were out.

Hi,

I'm happy to see projects like this one. Congrats!

I am working with a team to translate Snatcher for SegaCD to Spanish. We already have the game translated texts and published a patch. Maybe we have to improve some translations for the final patch. Now, Mairtrus, the romhacker is working in uncensored scenes and tiles translations and maybe we will try to add subtitles to the cutscenes.

If you use the same texts SegaCD for your port and if you want, I can send you a database with all texts (divided by scenes in files from the game) in both languages, original English texts with its Spanish language translated. Also, if you want a tool to translate to other languages, you can use the opensource CakePHP MVC translator from github (maybe I must improve it ^^').
