Snatcher Sega CD music

Post by KCJ506 »

Does anyone know a site where I can download music from the Sega CD version? I can't seem to find a place anywhere. Not even on this site.

The renamed Act 3 tracks are different than what I titled them when I donated some of the mp3s to Snatcher2047 for his Kremlin website years back. I just feel the titles fit better. To be honest, if the community can think of better titles, than by all means; song naming is not my forte'. Enjoy and let me know if there are any issues with the tagging. Also, I will get back to Artemio on how I did this later tomorrow.

'Difficult Move' from SD-Snatcher only; honestly, I just assume the Sega-CD version is a remix of 'Faded Memories' as the melody sounds inverted from the original and the chord progression seems similar to the PC-Engine original. Either way, it's redbook audio and there is no real way to subtract the voice without a certain degradation of the music.

I think the largest crime concerning the Sega-CD version is that all of the awesome remixes of the PC-Engine music were never commercially released (I really love the Sega-CD remix of 'Eternal Promise' that plays during Harry's final scene). Who is interested in breaking into Konami Kukeiha Club's archives to get those remixed songs?

You're also missing "Virtual Image", the track that plays when...
Spoiler:
Lisa shows her true identity, and when Random is revealed to be a bioriod.
and "Good Bye Harry" which playes when Harry talkes to you about Jean's death and...
Spoiler:
when you speak to mika after returning from Queen's Hospital after Random levels the place.
Also, some track names are incorrect. The correct names are:
"Theme of Metal Gear" >> "Theme of Tara"
"Abandoned Factory" >> "Follow Up the Scent"
"Merry X'Mas Neo Kobe City" >> "Jingle Bell 2042"
"Gillian's Apartment" >> "Home Sweet Home"
"Eternal Promise (Good Bye RNADOM) (Part 1)" >> "Theme of Random"
"Eternal Promise (Good Bye RANDOM) (Part 2)" >> "Eternal Promise"
"Cure" >> "Theme of Elijah"
"Red March" >> "Chernoton Research"
"Church" >> "Steel Heartbeat"
"Game Over" >> "Lament for the Dead"
"Amnesia" >> "Cold Sleep"
"Theme of Elijah" >> "Lucifer Alpha"
"Last Stand" >> "Metal Gear to the Rescue"
"Later, Kid!" >> "Face to Face"

I didn't make any of these up, I swear.

EDIT: They're just alternate titles from other fan-made rips of Snatcher's music.

Question though, will your version of the Mega CD OST contain all songs? (Really missing 'Good Bye Harry')
And wasn't the song 'Beyond Sorrows' in the Mega CD version of Snatcher...??
Furthermore, where is the song
Spoiler:
from Harry's final appearance? Or is that 'Good Bye Harry'?
By the way, a couple of days ago I put the Mega CD version in my cd player and you can hear (some of) the audio files (not in the correct order) from the game! I don't know why I never tried that before, will test MGS if it does the same thing.

Yes, but that was CD Audio. This package contains most of the FM Synth/PCM music.

When he dies, it playes a remix of "Eternal Promise (Good Bye Randam)."

"Good Bye Harry," or "For Harry" is chip music.

I can tell you right now that MGS doesn't use CD Audio. I know.
The only Kojima Games that use CD Audio are Policenauts for PC-9821 and Snatcher for PCE and Sega CD.

Snatcher on the Saturn does have a CD Audio track, but it's actually a cut version of the Computer Data Warning from the PC-Engine version.
I could go on a rant about how it's inclusion doesn't make sense, but I won't do that right now, unless you really want to know.

That explains it (about Beyond Sorrows). Do you already know if your version of the OST will contain the CD audio, if that's even possible?

Thanks, I for one really like the SCC Memorial Disk version. Really intense, makes me wonder how the MSX version plays/is.

Well, why not? I got some time to read your rant. :-)
The PC-9821 version of Policenauts is on it's way to my home, good to know it uses CD Audio. Will listen to the PCE version soon.

Too bad that MGS doesn't use it, is that a fact for all the different versions of MGS1? Or better yet, do you know where I can get a file with all the vocal tracks?

Edit: Hmm, I need to learn how to quote someone and than add a reaction...
Damn!

Of course. I did it for the PC-Engine OST, whynot this one?

CDDA is easy as fuck to rip.

Okay then.

It doesn't make sense because that warning was placed in the PC-Engine version to warn that the Data Track (Track 2) would soon start.
Often times, older CD Players wouldn't skip over the Data Track and thus playing back the data would produce a screeching sound that would Damage speakers.
All PC-Engine game are set up in a non-standard format.

Track 1 - Warning
Track 2 - Data
Track 3~? CD Audio
Last Track - Copy of Track 2

Konami sometimes got the voice actors to voice the warning, Such as in Snatcher or Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo.

Why it's in the Saturn version doesn't make sense because the Data track is Track 1. The warning is Track 2.
The data track would have already started if you didn't have a CD player that could recognize Data Tracks.

Is it a bonus? Like in Symphony of the Night for PlayStation?
Then why is it edited to remove refrences to the PC-Engine?
I don't get it.

You lucky bastard.
I recently ordered Snatcher CD-ROMantic with some left over money from my Birthday.

Do know that only the Opening and Ending songs are CD Audio, as well as the Konami logo.
Policenauts also uses Analogue CD Audio as opposed to the more widespread CD Digial Audio.

I could tell you your way around the files on the disk but they're in a proprietary Konami Data archive and I've never seen inside them.
No one quite knows the compression routine either, as it varies from game to game for the Konami .DAT archives.

Damn, I need to pick up on a lot of technical terms/banter etc. I'm an audio freak myself but that only manifests itself in me listening to good music. :-P

Can you also get the tracks from the Sega CD version which had vocals recorded over them (without the vocals)?

So if I understand you, the Saturn version audio tracks have a different order and let's you play the track first and than gives you a warning? I was planning to put all my Snatcher cd versions in my cd player, but is it safe to do that with the Saturn version? I also own Symphony of the night, will put that one in my cd player. Thanks for the tip.

As you can read, I'm a newbie/noob regarding ripping tracks, vocals etc. from a game. Has nobody (on this forum perhaps) ever tried to rip the vocals from MGS?
Damn!

Unfortuneately no. Sorry.
The Audio is mixed together in such a way that removing them through conventional means is impossible.
Kojima Hideo wrote:So if I understand you, the Saturn version audio tracks have a different order and let's you play the track first and than gives you a warning?
Essentially yes, although most CD Players by 1996 could recognize Data Tracks and Skip them, that includes the Sega Saturn's CD Player.
Kojima Hideo wrote:I was planning to put all my Snatcher cd versions in my cd player, but is it safe to do that with the Saturn version?
As long as you're CD Player isn't extremely old.

I've dicovered that the PC-Engine and Sega CD versions play in a PS3, but the Saturn Version isn't recognized.
Strange.
Kojima Hideo wrote:Has nobody (on this forum perhaps) ever tried to rip the vocals from MGS?
I don't think so. I there was a good method for doing this, I'd be all over it.

That's too bad. What about inconventional means..? ;-)
Will put the Saturn and PCE versions in my CD player when I'm back from the easter weekend.

Wow, so all the smart people haven't managed so far to rip the vocals from MGS? Damn, I smell a project here. Wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to hear the vocals as an sort of audio drama?

Girian, I'm a noob myself but when you're finished with your Snatcher OST's, shall we look into ways how we can manage that? I'll open up a topic in the MGS section right now.
