Best way to erase a vhs?

I need to erase some VHS tapes. I'm afraid "taping them over" won't do. I'm going to be making a few videos and I need to be sure that there isn't any image left over from previous recordings.

I know this has nothing to do with Kojima, but I thought that someone might have experience with this here.

Can't you just record a channel where there's no signal?

You can just buy a few online (nice ones) for around a dollar a piece. I find that taping with vhs more than worse can really start to degrade the film quality.

A channel with no signal is a good Idea.
I´d like to know: How do I erase 250 Videos?
I want to through my Videos away (only the self-recorded) and I don´t want anything to left on these tapes (family recordings and so on).
And after I´ve deleted them, where dcan I get rid of them? 250 are a lot, and not easy to carry as well..

Wasn't magnetic erasure the best way? I don't have the means or tested it, but recall that there were magnatic erasing machines. they erase the whole tape in seconds. I am sure that a couple magnets in a cabinet where you pla ce the tape and jiggle it a bit are enough.

I tried to erase the tapes with a crt degaussing ring and several magnets. Didn't work. I didn't want to buy a bulk eraser, so I taped over the program with 6 hours of static. If I'm not satisfied I'll just buy new tapes.

On a completely unrelated note, today was my first day in college.
