I hope they take back Al Gore's Nobel Prize. I hope this gathers more steam and not brushed aside by the mainstream press. I'm so sick of going green.

I could care less about "global warming". If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. The reason I'm in support of going green is that finally people can stop using so much plastic. Sure, people are being "green" because it's the cool, hip, fashionable thing to do, and are following like sheep, but who cares if it's actually producing a little less waste then normal.

The green movement is just like everything else though, it's a way for some people to make money of the ignorance of everyone else.

I don't know what it is, but in just the last 10 years the weather in Finland has been going more and more apeshit. FFS, we live near the north pole and we still haven't had snow in Lahti this winter. Call it global warming or whatever the fuck you want, but something is going on.

Well I herd they just lied about some facts to hype it up more, so they could bring more attention to the subject...?

I don't really care or concern myself with it, but by no means is "Global Warming" a scam, or fake!
I mean come on....temperature changes cause changes to our planet that effect life...that's simple science and fact.

I'm not saying you should "Go Green" though...
Because I personally think it's just some stupid money making trend (that means well though).
But I think that it won't make that much of a difference overall in stopping the climate from eventually changing (it's just a matter of time...and hey, that's life).

Sure there is climate change. It alternates based on the suns intensity cycle, 50 or so years of hot and 50 or so years of cold. So you want scientific fact? Here is some, global warming, or rather, the belief that we're causing it, is total bull shit and a complete liberal hoax.

Watch a documentary called "The Great Global Warming Swindle". It actually has credited scientists in it, giving scientific facts to show that global warming is a hoax. Unlike Al Gore's movie, which had absolutely none of that.

They should take Gore's Nobel prize back and slap him in the face. I hate when global warming advocates use the word "fact" because their side has none of it at all, it really aggravates me.

So I'm going to tell you what I tell every greenhead, even though you may not be a complete advocate of global warming, please don't talk to me about science and fact until you've seen both sides and see which side has science and fact which has none at all.

what are you saying then? because for some reason we both are in agreement here...and isn't that pretty much fact???
Commander_AK-47 wrote:They should take Gore's Nobel prize back and slap him in the face. I hate when global warming advocates use the word "fact" because their side has none of it at all, it really aggravates me.?
I've never watched Al Gore's stupid movie, nor do I care if he gets a Nobel prize.

I never said I'm Green, and if you read correctly you'd see I feel going Green and trying to "Change" the planet is stupid.
I beleive in "Global Warming" as you and I have both stated...wich is simpily that Climate change exists...and that is all.

Now maybe that's not Al Gore or the Greenheads way to define "Global Warming"???

No it's not, they say that we're causing global warming with our lifestyle and that's where changing and going green comes in. Which of course is total bull shit because global temperature average fluctuates naturally, just because it's on the rise now they want to change the world.

Well good luck to anyone trying to change the world's climate through going green....LOL!
There's no control or method of control we can put on nature/the planets climate....no repair man to fix the thermostat.

It's not that they want to change. They want to change our habits, what we drive, what we buy, what we use. Scam us into buying green stuff, and changing out lifestyles.

Care to back up any of your "facts" then? You seem to be pretty sure of yourself, I'd love to see your research to back up your claims. I'd watch your movie, but a quick wikipedia of it has brought up a broad number of criticisms against it. Perhaps you'd like to read them yourself, you know to "[see] both sides and see which side has science and fact which has none at all".

Here are some facts about global warming

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... rming.html

Even though later in the article they attribute it to humans, on that first page they do not. Please find statistics disproving the loss of arctic ice. Thanks

They don't want to change your habits, they want to sell you shit. What's the basis for your disbelief for going green? Is it your God-Given right to go out and rape the planet? Do you have even the broadest idea how biological systems operate?

Go read up on the Gaia hypothesis. The earth works like a single organism, the interactions of the biological and physical world working together to keep the planet in a constant state of homeostasis. It isn't possible that by developing large swaths of land, and changing the amount of chemicals released overall, that we've altered the way in which the planet interacts with itself?

You don't think that increased amounts of methane and carbon released into the atmosphere has have had an equal and opposite effect on the planet? Of course not, you've already done all the research and are going to present it to us in a thought out and well present manner.

I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful debate.

I personally don't believe going green will do anything for the planet either though. It's a fad, simple as that. It doesn't matter though, the damage has been done. We never really had a chance to stop it either, it was just a necessary side effect of industrialization.

But

The planet is changing, it is more than likely (I'm not saying certainly, take note of that before jumping all over me) related to humans actions on the planets. The biosphere is changing, you'd have to be either a complete idiot or willfully ignorant to not see it.

It's more like they want to scare everyone so that they will freak out and pass any bill congress throws at them like that stupid carbon bill

Also, I have to ask, How are "they" trying to change your lifestyle? By having people drive more fuel coefficient cars? By hang drying instead of using a dryer? They are asking people to re-use bottles instead of buying new ones every time?

What habits do you have that face extinction in the name of this green terror?

It's not that. It's the principle. It's all based on a lie, therefore we shouldn't tolerate it.

Please, point this lie out to me, or at least back up your claim that it is a lie with some kind of research.

How about the current CAFE standards that penalizes automakers that make inefficient vehicles? It forces automakers to make cars that are smaller and lighter which makes them less safe in a crash. Also all these existing and proposed taxes like Cap and Trade take money away from households. That money could be used for other things such as necessities and luxuries like video games. That's one way it could change your lifestyle.

I see you've used the word inefficient. I assume you know what it means then.

Exactly why would this be considered a bad thing, for auto makers or for consumers?

There's nothing wrong with making efficient vehicles, but why penalize a car company that is making cars that people want to buy that's more of a luxury?

"By having people drive more fuel coefficient cars?
How about "asking" people instead of "having" people? It is far beyond suggesting that people do things. The government forces people to do these things by taxing us and penalizing businesses.

While I don't know the exact reasoning, I'll list at least one suitable reason to for the government to push more fuel efficient cars. Fossil fuels are a limited resource. At some point in time, it will all be gone. By using less now, it increases the use of the overall supply.

Car companies also don't have to and certainly haven't stopped making luxury cars.

And why shouldn't the government push these things? Name the downsides in this shift. I understand how this could be perceived as government having too much power, but I personally don't see it this way. People won't change until they are forced to and that stubbornness would be the death of us.

If you want the government to have control of every aspect of your life, go see how life in Russia or China is working out. This past year the government has taken over car companies, told CEO's how much they can make and now they're trying to overhaul healthcare. Most government entities such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security the Postal Service is going bankrupt and you want to give government more control. You're talking about "forcing" people to change. How about giving us our money back and let us make our own choices. I used to think like you Anubis. I don't know how old you are, but once you're on your own and start living life and eventually having a car, a home and a family, you start noticing how the world works and where your money is going. The Climate Change stuff is just the tip of the iceberg.

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said that I want government running every aspect of my life, although I do want government stepping in when people make stupid decisions. The role of government is to govern. You know why government exists? Because large populations can't govern themselves. It's a fact. Even in nature alpha males arise in a social hierarchy to lead groups. This entire American concept of freedom from government yet maintaining a government is hypocritical.

While it sucks that it's the government controlling these companies, has this economic situation not shown that "somebody" has to be watching them. Large scale corporations have done as much if not more damage to the country that anything else has. The CEO's of these companies have shown themselves to be the greedy heartless sons of bitches we knew they were from the beginning. The way I see it is, somebody has to run the country, and the choice goes to Corporations or Government. I personally would rather have the system with checks and balances over the system with the most money.

I'll tell you what, I'll investigate China and Russia if you go check out France, Sweden, Norway and the rest of the socialist countries in Northern Europe. Oh, living on your own isn't difficult. I do it, as do most adults.

Regardless, this has nothing to do with climate change, and just goes to show how far climate change has been emotionally charged by both political parties.

by the will of the people. Looks like we're not getting that with all the vote buying on this healthcare debacle. We'll see what happens in the 2010 midterm where hopefully the people will get their say.
