Heh, don't worry, I was just kidding... mostly... Actually, those kind of artistic things often matter more to me than plot points. But I also don't really care about spoilers since the journey is more important than the destination to me anyway. If we wanted to get technical, though, I guess how much of a spoiler that was comes down to whether there's a corresponding scene in the console versions or not, because like you say most of us will never get the chance to play the PC98 version. But careful! You can't answer that question now! :P

EDIT: And yeah, just pulled out the Black Disc, and that is a very good mix. I do hear the differences. But I'm gonna go on record saying I like the original version even more. I like the "pluckier" strumming sounds.

Are you insane?! The 32-bit versions have that horrible cover where Jamie takes up most of the space, which wouldn't be a problem, but she looks like a guy in drag, for god's sake! My vote goes to the beautiful-looking PCE cover. Come to think of it, ALL of the Snatcher covers besides the PCE one are rather mediocre, in my opinion. Unless you count SD Snatcher- I want those dolls!!!!

Heh, yeah Jaime looks fugly on it, but still, the rest of the artwork is good I think.

Oh yeah, the PC Engine has the best cover! I just forgot about that one for some reason (how silly of me). I still think the Saturn version is a great cover which includes a lot of characters on it, I like the artwork as well as I mentioned before.

Once again my wanderings through cyberspace have led me back here... Stuff like this makes me wish someone would make a "complete" version of Snatcher and Policenauts using AGD or something.

Could I throw this out there...? May I make a request for some images? Hmm... I'd really dig seeing the scene where
Spoiler:
Jonathan and Ed reunite for the first time in 28 years in the pc98 version...

That would be... oh dear lol, the freaking icing on my cake~ :)
*humbly requesting~! And I very very much understand if anyone is shot for time~*

I have a PC98 image request, as well:
Spoiler:
I would like to see images of the ending scene where Johnathan flies back to planet Earth, and stars are shining in the sky, symbolizing the snow in the intro to the PC98 version.

Today I've been playing the PC98 version of Policenauts until I left the AMM in act 2.

And I thought, since the PC98 version is the least known version among western fans, I'd do a few screenshots while playing. And that's what I did, 307 screenshots, all from the PC98 version, covering the game from the beginning to somewhere in the first half of act 2.

http://rapidshare.com/files/73620627/Po ... s.rar.html

There might be some spoilers, nothing major, but still, if you haven't played the game yet I recommend you stop watching after Jonathan and Ed reunite.

Oh, and you should unzip the files to make sure they're in the correct order.

Thanks very much for these. I'll add some of them to Wikipedia, if that's alright with you?

Sure, no problem.

Man, those pictures are great. As I mentioned already, the artwork for the PC98 version is, in my opinion, the best one of the bunch. Also, the image resolution is much bigger than on the home console versions.

BTW, will more screen captures from this version be added in the future, or is that it?

Oh
My

Johnson, you BASTARD! Can I please have your babies?!?! You've made my life complete!!! If there's anything in the world I can do (which might not be alot, but I try!), don't hesitate, man!

I'm glad you guys liked it. I've continued playing a little bit, yesterday, I'm almost at the end of act 2 now. Expect the next package when I'm done with act 4. (Which shouldn't take too long, since act 3 is rather short, compared to act 2 and act 4 is ridiculously short.)

I'd love to know who it was that did the animation for the PC-98 version, since I doubt it was the same folks that did the console versions.

Well, it wasn't Yoji Shinkawa that's for sure. He was only a debugger on the original version.

I've been playing until I reached act 6 and here are 279 new screenshots.

I shouldn't need to say this, but just in case...MAJOR SPOILER!!

You should only watch this if you've finished one of the console versions.

Now, how to extract it.... Hmm. Y'know, if you're the type to take souls, you could just eat the babies.

The animation, I would bet, was in-house, a bunch of pixle-pushers in the visuals department working with proofs that Tomiharu Kinoshita would've ok'd past Kojima first (maybe). Even closer to the source~

Edit: Upon further inspection, this stuff is amazing. Just... amazing. Thanks for sharing all this with us, man.

Two questions I have:

1) In the PC98 version, are you given unlimited continues like in the home console versions of Snatcher?

2) Is it all right if I try out the PC98 version first, then try out the home console versions afterwards, so that I can decide for myself which version is the best?

Yes.

I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't do that, except that you might want to wait for the translation patch and start with the PSX version.

But well...I didn't do it that way either.

I still fire up the system every now and then just to watch the intro to that version. Really nice scene.

Wow, thanks a lot. (Had to.) After going through the PSX version, it was neat to see all the little differences.

Charlie, can I use these pictures as comparison shots to the PSX version on the SA forums?

Yes, of course.

Edit: Oh, and while we're at it, I have one question about a possible bug in the PS1 version.
Spoiler:
Image

In this picture you can clearly see Dave's ID on the left and Ishidas on the right but I seem to remember that in the PS1 version, if you looked at Dave's ID it was actually Ishida's that showed up and vice versa although you could still see the portraits in the background and the one on the left looked blonde to me.

Is it just my memory playing tricks on me or were the profiles mixed up in the PS1 version?

I'm pretty sure - since I had to edit one of those graphics - they got it right, but I can double-check since I've got savegames pretty much everywhere. (I think I have 28 copies of memory card files all throughout the game.)

If it is mixed up like you say it is, I can fix that pretty easily though.
