Just beat that shit right now dogg and... HOT DAMN!!!! What a game... for my money blows away that convoluted(sorry for my spelling) storyline that has become the Metal Gear out of the water. My stomach was all churned up playing this baby... this masterpiece that I will call my favorite kojima game (have yet to play snatcher though).

Just completed it today. One question, is anything supposed to occur after the Vitruvian Policenaut logo after the last dialogue by Ingram? Either way, I waited a long time for this, thanks a lot.

No (similar to the very last sequence in Final Fantasy VII).

Beat it. Better than Snatcher, hands-down. Movie-worthy script except for some awkward "Now I will explain my evil plan" expose. Kojima seems to be in love with a lot of old school plot devices. Sometimes it's retro and sometimes it's a little silly but more often than not it works really well in Policenauts.

Beat it two days ago. A little bummed it suffers from Act 3 Snatcher syndrome towards the end, but still loved the shit out of it.
Spoiler:
Also, how fucked up is it that Jonathan can feel up is daughter in the hospital?

What's Act 3 Snatcher Syndrome? Lots of talking/shooting and not much else?

Beat it. Thanks so much guys. now it's time to talk about the game :)
Spoiler:
Okay so at the end meryl look like she's wearing goggles. The significance of that, it's Dave's right? I just realized that while writing this.
How come for slowbeefs avatar he's holding a gun. I dont remember seeing that part in the game.

Who thinks the best part action wise was the musuem then motorcycle chase then into the transit system then bomb difusal part?
I failed the bomb diffusal part so many times I guess the English was kinda not explained well with the peggoraths. thingy. I had to cheat the saved states

Also when you fail the bomb fuse so many times theres this one time where ED decides to give it a go. The maze ends up being super simple and eds like. Watch this. and he removes the magnetic sensor. Spins it around and puts it back in then takes it out again! Then jon is like thats easy anyone could do it. and Ed's like. its easy cuz I made it easy. Was that part of the game originally?

The dave shooting part is an optional scene if you hang around the shooting gallery a lot. There's also one with redwood there. I don't know if there are any others on top of that.

Beat this bad boy last night. I am SOOOOO glad i waited to play an english version of this game because there are so many parts that would have confused me if i had just guessed what was going on.

Oh, and the people complaining about the shooting are being whiners. I only died three times during shooting sequences.
Spoiler:
Twice on the emps stationed outside of Factory 7 and once when Redwood is running up the spiral stairs. I honestly had a harder time defusing the bomb.
I mean, games are supposed to be hard, anyways.

Anyways, This game friggin rocked hard. Thank you guys SOOOOOO much! Konami is a bunch of retards for not releasing this game in the states!

Spoiler:
I found it a pain to use the mouse for this game. Mainly because I guess the sensitivity for windows needs to be turned down real low so when you play policenauts it doesn't scroll like half way across the screen for 1 cm of mouse movement.
I just couldn't do the shooting with the mouse because of the sensitivity.

Anyone else notice it kind of auto-aims when you press L1 or R1. For that going up tokuwaga building near the end. I kinda just auto aimed everyone.

How come for that bomb difusal part where it talks about some "paggorthy" or some theory about fooling the strings by having them cross diagonally to trick something. I kept cutting either 2 of the ones on the left and kept dying. It was like the translation was clearly explaining to me it was either of those ones and couldn't beat it for some reason. I had to use saved states and click on every string to get it to complete. I was shocked to find out it wasn't those 2. But the one on the right which the text really didn't indicate that was what I was supposed to cut. Anyone else have that problem?

Spoiler:
Whoa, sounds very similar to me. I died 4 times during bomb defusal (oops), once during the Redwood chase leading the to bomb defusal, and perhaps twice on the dual EMPS outside Factory 7 after beating Salvatore.
I would like to go through again just to have a no death/continue clear. Perhaps I shall do that once I get another memory card.

I dunno we're all hardcore and have played snatcher so we expect a lot from this game.

If someone was just to randomly pick up this game and play it. The first 6 hours is like just constant bombardment of reading all the little details after going through each new area for the first time. Maybe that's one reason why it wasn't released here.

The same could be said about snatcher as well, minus the beginning scene with the bots in the warehouse (but policenauts has the biker shooting sequence right at the beginning also.) Neither game picks up until about the halfway point. Then it's all running around the previously explored areas, though there is a lot more shooting in policenauts (seems like more exploring and detective work in snatcher) but that should be more appealing to the trigger happy american masses, right?

Yeah there can be a little much text but I read it all and it made me get to know the characters really well.

And after all this game of waiting for the game it didnt dissapoint.

Just beat the game, very much enjoyed it :) thanks again to those involved
Spoiler:
I'm kinda surprised about what others are saying about the shooting sequences. I also died a handful of times defusing the bomb, but the only shooting sequence that I had trouble with was Salvatore, who killed me several times.

I beat the entire game with a mouse! And no, I didn't switch to keyboard once. Not one to brag but...yeah, it was awesome.

Just finished!
Tried to take my time on it but found it hard to put down
I liked it every bit as much as snatcher.
Can't believe its finished though :(

I'm happy though because I can go back to zoe2 now which i havent finished and then zoe1 which ive never played, although they are very different I think those games have a very policnauts feel about them(in the cutscenes)
Theres also a zero gravity blood moment that they have in common :)

Thanks again to everyone who made it possible to play this, you must have made so many people happy

Do we need spoiler tags here? I would expect that everyone who goes into this thread would have beaten the game already, but just in case, I will anyway.
Spoiler:
Yay! I took my time, but I beat it at around half past 1 this morning (in my wacky New Zealand time). It took me about 12-14 hours or so... I feel really privileged (and now sleepy) to have played the game and the ending was very charming and heartwarming.

To be honest, I expected Johnathan to be Karen's biological father. I was positive when the doctor almost spelled it out for Johnathan, saying only her Parents can save her, as if he knew something he didn't (not that he did, but the game did a pretty poor job of making it a surprise. I guess it's supposed to be there so that when you play it a second time, you'll realize they were foreshadowing it all along). I also expected Chris to have something to do with it also seeing as there didn't seem to be as much attention on her compared to the other characters, and because she was at the party in the Garden (she was my second choice when you had to pick the astronaut). I was surprised when it turned out Johnathan had a camera all along and was revealing the whole thing over BCC, that made me grin inside. And with Redwood admitting that he hated Johnathan without really giving him a reason really made him feel more real to me. It really took me off guard when it turned out in the AP Center that Redwood, who seemed to be a supportive passenger back when we first met him, was in fact a real prick. And I had a feeling everything was going to go downhill when they tried to make a bust on Tokugawa, but I never would have thought that Gates would have had anything to do with it!

Oh yeah, and discovering the truth about Anna's bag at the most crucial time was very surprising, also! Poor Ed seemed so ashamed.
Thanks again team! Also, because the credits didn't play for me properly, did the translation team tuck their name into the credits? And was there anything at the end, like a one-liner from Johnathan, that I missed out on?

Were you using an emulator? If you were; use E}I{'s GPU Plugin to view the end credits and extra ending stuff. Although, the ending played for me, the credits had no sound, the little extra afterward plays fine with the sound working, though.
And was there anything at the end, like a one-liner from Johnathan, that I missed out on?
Yeah, he talks about why he opted to go Home instead of staying on Beyond, plus Kojima was obviously finishing up his "theme" of Policenauts as well with what Jonathan says. Also, it's "Jonathan" not "Johnathan", just saying.
