PSP Policenauts- We should ask K Productions for this...

Post by Jack »

I don't know if you're familiar with the SCEI Yarudora series. It was a group of four digi comic / text adventures in the vein of Policenauts, that dealt with the theme of amnesia and pretty girls...

The series' most famous chapter is Sampaguita, which sports character design from Shirow Masamune and animations by Production IG. With such a pedigree, I had to track down a copy. (it isn't too bad, although still on the voyeur side...)

Well, look what happened: do a quick google sampaguita search, or just go to GameFAQs to discover that the game is going to be published again... for PSP.

It makes perfectly sense, after all. PSP' screen can do the game justice, the UMD is big enough to store it, and the game plays well om handheld, since you basically have to read stuff and choose between options.

Now I'm sure you already can see my point. Kojima said Ac!d is what they came up with because they knew that a proper stealth game wouldn't work too well on portable. Imagine, you're trying to avoid guards, to be silent, then the bus stops, or someone stumbles on you, and you lose control of Snake.

We should ask for a Policenauts PSP, that's my point. I would excited by the idea EVEN if the game stayed japanese only once again; but of course it would be awesome if they did a PSP version and released it to the West.

Yes, I feel Policenauts is the perfect product for PSP: an intelligent, adult adventure, and a game that crosses media just like PSP wants to do with UMD movies and such. It's a game that's more than ten years old, true, but PSP isn't against rehashes... It came out with ridge racer after all.

We should ask Kojima Productions to do this. I perfectly know the sad history of all the failed Policenauts petitions, but I somewhat feel this idea might grab their interest.

What do you all think?

[edit]: I'll add a couple of links to explain better what I'm talking about for those interested:

It would certainly give me another reason to buy a PSP
Rose: Jack, what day is it tommorrow?
Raiden: Uhhhhh .... the sundays?

Meryl: Dave, what day is it tommorow?
Snake: I don't care. Shut up.

Para-Medic: Jack, what day is it tommorow.
Boss: The day I banged Eva. Now shut up and roll over, I'm not done with you yet.

Very well, I've just sent this message at Kojima Pro:

http://www.konami.jp/gs/kojima_pro/english/mail.html

"Dear Kojima Productions,
SCEI is releasing anime adventure Sampaguita for PSP. We Konami fans would like a lot to see Interactive Cinema Policenauts on PSP too. It's a masterpiece, and it would be a good chance to eventually bring it outside of Japan.

We feel Policenauts is the right product for PSP: a mature adventure that has not lost its huge potential.

Please consider doing a PSP port of this great classic.

Thank you so much for the attention, and keep with the good work. We love your games!"

I have to admit, i think Policenauts would be nice on PSP, though again, i have grown pesamistic on the whole re-release of it, even with the recent anouncment of MG and MG2 being translated
