This has probably been asked before but I was just wondering if you were going to post screenshots from parts of the games youve translated and make comparison shots with the original?

...sorry if this has been asked alot of times.

When we can. We all have work and outside lives, so obviously it probably would've been done by now if we were able to devote our complete attention to it. That's partly why these projects take so long.

We'll probably be posting screenshots of the finished translation on the website, but no version-to-version comparison shots. What's the point, when only the text would be different and most people who'll be interested in it can't read Japanese (hence why they haven't played it before)?

Anyway, thanks for your interest and keep cheering us on! :P

Okay,s last questions to satisfy my curiosity. First one - on a scale of 0% to 100%, how much of the project do you reckon is completed? The second - do you think that the project will be done before the end of 2006/start of 2007?

So then, how's the current status on the whole affair? Hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks again.

Indeed, it's like Snatcher said. We have no timeline because we honestly don't know when.

EDIT: Just went through all of the posts, what kind of an ignorant prick am I? I really am sorry about all of this. I understand. I'll leave you be now, good luck with it all though. Please can you tell me which two people are programming? Cheers for the patience to answer the same questions over and over.

Artemio is one of them; he was the one who started the project many years ago. The other programmer is a friend of ours.

Good stuff, I wish them luck. I heard off a friend who is Japanese it will be VERY tricky to translate such a game.

What did they say would be so difficult?

He said that there are a lot of technical words in the game (big fan of the game) that would be too hard to translate into English; he himself is still learning English, believing the language barrier is enormous and saying I wouldn't understand.

I can see what he means though.

Wow, that sounds like a great idea. :) If we make any more progress we'll be sure to contact you. If anyone else is interested in translating the game into another language, please let us know.

While we're at it, when the time comes I could do a german translation. Frankly, my english writing skills aren't perfect, but I can understand it very well, so it won't be a problem for me to translate it from english into german.

I'd like to do it but :
1) I don't have much free time left with my studies.
2) I read there was something like 10 hrs of dialogs  .
3) Moreover, there's a lot of technical/astronomical terms in it (+ Policenauts-related terms*).
4) I know jackshit about programming (to replace the Japanese subtitles) but I do know French is a far less concise language than Japanese. So I would have to cut down some elements to make the French translation fit into the game.
5) I need to see an English text dump to begin with.

* Examples :
- Policenauts : I would leave it as it is, but add an explanation between brackets (astro-policiers or something to that extent) the first time it appears.
- Home : "maison" (with quotation marks to show it's not meant to be taken litterally)
- Old L.A. : id. or maybe le vieux Los Angeles.
- Beyond Coast : id.
- Frozeners : id. ("les congelés/surgelés" really doesn't sound good in French.

The script will be very long and technical, so I understand if you wont have the time to work on it.

Hey guys, happy new year.

How goes the technical work and all? Keep us updated, yeah?

Don't worry, we're still working on it.

I can promise you you won't be disappointed. It'll have its own dedicated website and feature everything you could possibly imagine (except a copy of the game itself, of course).

I have a question regarding it, I have the 3DO version of the game, will it work with that? If not, then please do tell, what version/s? Thanks.

The first version will be the PlayStation version.

I'm assuming it won't matter which printing I use, should I decide to get it?

We won't know that until we can test it on them, unfortunately. If you were to buy one now and wanted to be safe, go with either the original or TheBest version.
