Oh, right. I hadn't heard anything about that.
...It's still an odd choice for a comeback, though.

Kojima is well built! I thought he would have been a skinny, office worker sort of guy. I'm proved wrong.87th wrote:Oh, right. I hadn't heard anything about that.

And yeah, Kojima seems to be doing a lot for his fans as of late. Good news (if you speak Japanese of course ).

Oh man, this thing is just great. Check this out. They made a special site for all of Junker Expensive of America's cheap warez... http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/twohan/jea/ The URL is included on the box. It's hilarious.
The first CD is all the music used in Hidechan plus 2 original vocal songs, while the second disc is all the episodes of 2.5, which is quite different from the Ghost Babel iteration. http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/twohan/ I'll try and get some pics and more info up later. By the way, Junker Expensive Corporation is now Junker Expensive of America. And like Hidechan, 2.5 is filled with Policenauts music, ha.

号外/発売イ
I ordered a CD for one of the members here, and now I'm getting mail about further Hidechan products. Frankly, I have no interest in them, so I couldn't tell you one from the other. But I will post what I get. Hope this isn't the same information.

Thought I'd share a silly little tid bit about this release. I was listening carefully to the tracks from Policenauts (the 1994 Soundtrack release), compared to the Hidechan -and I totally noticed that they re-mastered these mofoos!!!
The frequency levels/quality of the songs are higher (of the compressed wave decibels), and padded with deeper/wider stereo channeling!!!!
(Top wave table = Left Stereo Channel, bottom = Right Stereo Channel)
Here is the 1994 transfer for "End of Dark" Policenauts FLAC
Here is the 2007 Hidechan transfer "End of Dark" Policenauts FLAC
Look at all of those broken up wave bits in the frequency-noise for the 94' release, compared to the smooth compression of the 2007!!!! ISN'T THIS FUCKING AWESOME!?
The frequency levels/quality of the songs are higher (of the compressed wave decibels), and padded with deeper/wider stereo channeling!!!!
(Top wave table = Left Stereo Channel, bottom = Right Stereo Channel)
Here is the 1994 transfer for "End of Dark" Policenauts FLAC

For now I had only listened to them at the office... I am now playing them in ALAC at home on my Paradigm Studio 60 speakers and you are totally right! They sound great!
I have to check out the old versions to make an A/B compare...
EDIT:
Look at what you've done.. I've been up till 2 am comparing End of Dark... Listened to it at elast 10 times total. I used the original Policenauts OST and this new Hidechan release. Both direct from the CD in order to eliminate ripping and lossless compression problems, and used a PS3 and an Oppo player, both via HDMI to an Onkyo 604. I alternated between both mid-track and also listened to each one without interruption.
Man, what a difference. I also believe that they redid the stereo mix.. or the transfer is so much better from the original masters. It sounds way better now.
Great find man! I wouñdn't have compared them at all, it never crossed my mind. Thanks =)

You noticed that too!! That is so awesome, glad to know there's another audiophile around here. ^_^ It's almost as if they broadened the stereo channel (and redid the mix as you said above) a bit, but without degrading (but increasing) the bass output, or expanding the treble (which would've made for noise garbage -like that inner-sound enhancing feature on iTunes for instance.)Snatcher wrote:

I've noticed that even if you rip it to like a loss-less format like let's say MP3-320 CBR/VBR you can still feel that damn "kick." This is just impressive, and I thought that this CD would just be like a generic filling -as if it was one of those Konami Konami Kukeiha Club type of compilations. (Not that any of those are bad hahaha.)

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA that sounded so dirty!!! Oh yes though, I know sexy, and the rudest one of them all, Rudi. ^_^ Oh and the devious of all devious ones, Snatcher2047. -I got caught up in the heat of Artemio's sexy latin machismo. Then again... I think we're all pretty much fucked up people, obsessed with music (and movies) for the most part. God I need to lay off the fucking Vodka. Fax me in the morning Marc, and get me those TPS reports if you can.Osiris wrote:Hey, I like doing that kinda thing too.Snake Plissken wrote:That is so awesome, glad to know there's another audiophile around here. ^_^

Yes I also thought it would be a generic filler as you describe it.
I didn't know you were that much into audio man, I've been digging deeper this last year. Changing speakers and doing changes to create a smooth bass response. I just bought a BFD 1124p ( http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/bfd-rew-forum/ ) and am dying for it to arrive in order to fix some peaks I have around 40 hz in my room, I did some equalization last week using the ECM8000 omni-directional Mic and REW (the software described in the link above). Difference was so big after changing the crossover values and minimizing some peaks I could change with the built in EQ on the Onkyo 604, that I ended up buying the BFD.
Investment to get that kind of upgrade is not that big when compared to some nice speakers and amplifier, so I greatly recommend it to anyone interested in getting the most out of their audio systems.
If any of you is interested in this or has gone this path before, I'd love to talk about it and share some knowledge you might have.

I thought my local group of friends were the only that thought so. I still keep a copy of it here. I remember that back in college one of my friends, Paco Puente, had a 3DO.. and he carried a tape with the music from it on his car. Man, we loved those tracks. All we could usually do was listen to them on the Genesis or Super NES sound test, but they were so much better on the Super SFII Turbo version.Osiris wrote:Alex, I remember a couple years ago when we talked about how the 3DO version of SSF2T has the best music quality even though it came out years before the 32- and 64-bit versions. You always did have a sharp ear for sound.
Know i have that copy we all played back then, along with my friend's 3do in my collection. I'll play it tomorrow, I also liked how the 3do version of the Policenauts music sounds, I'll play some of it as well.

And here I thought me an' my sis were the only ones. I brought a yak-bak to school with me once with the first 10 seconds of the CPS1 version of Ryu's theme recorded on it. My friends musta' thought we were awefully dorky.Snatcher wrote:.. and he carried a tape with the music from it on his car. Man, we loved those tracks. So lemme get this straight, it's ok to listen to OSTs?
That's awesome. The only real thing that prevents it from being arcade perfect is the backgrounds are missing all their parallax scrolling for some reason (I really miss it).Snatcher wrote:I thought my local group of friends were the only that thought so. I even bought the SNES adapter from him, no way you played with the actual 3do pad! And since a friend of mine made some custom arcade sticks for the SNES (Which he donated for the collection)...Osiris wrote:That's awesome.
