If we want to list every point a MG/MGS game referenced another MG/MGS game, then this would become far too long a list. Besides, most of those references are glaringly obvious and aren't really worth mentioning.

Does anyone think it's worth including Mesal Gear Solid (from Ape Escape 3) as a Kojima game? His name's on the credits.

Dr. Pettrovich was a Metal Gear character borrowed by Snatcher, not the other way around, although he did get the Madnar surname from Snatcher.

That was already the case for Mr X's one (thanks to JpegMasterJess for the proof picture).

EDIT :
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
* Gary McGolden mentions a "D-People-E-O" in his Shocking Conspiracy behind Shadow Moses (Ghost Babel reference).

It's a reference to what exactly? I'm just curious as to whether this might add more to the argument that Ghost Babel is officially canon. Probably not, but it's good to know all the same.

It's a reference to the Idea Spy 2.5 fictional radio program from Ghost Babel
(D-People-E-O is a robot made by the Junker Expensive corporation).

I think you could call this a reference - in ZOE1, there's a large vertical column in the colony identical in appearance to the Tokugawa Building in Policenauts.

Good news. I found out yesterday that the sunscreen is in every version of Policenauts. It's really hard to pick up when you're clicking (it's just under Victor's right forearm), but that just makes it that much cooler. Here's a translation I did of the dialogue:

(1st time)
Jonathan:
Is this...what I think it is?

Victor:
What's up?

Jonathan:
No, never mind...

Victor:
That's sunscreen.

Ed:
Sunscreen?

Victor:
It protects against ultraviolet rays. Well, something like that won't provide any protection against cosmic rays, though. It's only for research purposes. It's not like I use it on myself.

Jonathan:
I've seen this logo on it somewhere before.

Victor:
That wouldn't surprise me. I got it sent here from Home.

Jonathan:
I can't remember where.

(2nd time onward)
Victor:
That's sunscreen.

Jonathan:
It's no good, I can't remember.

There's something else I just realized. While this isn't a reference to another one of his games, the shooting trainer terminal in BCP looks a lot like a PC-98. It even has writing in the upper-left part of the machine like PC-98s do.

You ever played Policenauts? I recommend it, especially since you know Japanese.

No, not yet. Is it on the PSP? I know it's on the PSX, and I could easily get it from Yahoo Auctions Japan...

It's on the PC-98, 3DO, PSX, and Saturn. I recommend the Saturn version if you have one.

Ah, okay. No, I don't. Just my trusty PS2 and PSP. =) Not really in the market for anything else.

The PS version is almost as good as the Saturn version. You don't miss much, just light gun support and a couple of very minor scenes, really. I recommend picking up Private Collection, too. It's like the Document of MGS2, only for Policenauts.

So the PS version doesn't have light gun support?

What were the scene cuts?

A flashback dream sequence (nothing major), a joking hold-up with a gun (I don't want to spoil it regardless), and some extra news clips.

You also get additional close-ups of some of the characters when you talk to them. You're not missing anything big. Definitely go for the PS version if you like Kojima games. It doesn't have light gun support, no, but it does have mouse support, like the Saturn version.

Cool.

Yeah, either way, it's what I have and so far I am really enjoying it.

Thanks much!

While Ghost Babel isn't canonical to the main timeline, it has a lot more credibility than Snake's Revenge. It's at least in an alternate timeline, just like Snake Tales in Substance.

I still can't believe they named the badguy "Higharolla Cockamamie" (or however they spelled it).

Back in the NES days, details like names were usually left to whoever wrote the manual, who didn't tend to take it seriously.

There's another one here. In the recent trailer for MGS Portable Ops, there's a character called "Cunningham". Clearly a reference to Benson Cunningham of Snatcher fame.

Still fackin' blows.

On another topic, The Fear's bow gun is annotated "Little John" in the MGS3 script. Any ideas? Jean-Jack Gibson's navigator in Snatcher is also called Little John.
