What is your SINGLE favorite Metal Gear collectible?

Post by violentpig »

You can only pick ONE!

Mine is the Medicom RAH 1/6th squares camo zombie face paint Snake. Great articulation, but what seperates it from the other RAH figures is the unique camo and the amazing face paint job. Very agressive looking. It only comes with the pistol and 2 sets of hands but that's perfectly fine. It's not the rarest or most valuable item out there, but it's definately the most bad-ass figure I've *EVER* seen (of any type/series of figure).

My second fav is...HEY I SAID ONLY ONE!!!!

I'd probably say the E3 collectable dogtags a friend of mine has.. They came engraved with the Foxhound logo on one side, and the MGS Logo in the other.
Damn it, Lionel! I want a pair of those too! =P~
And then the long pulse of Zion Dub...

Do you have a picture of them? I've always wanted nice pair of dog tags but I'm not sure what's licensed and what isn't.

Yeah I see dog tags now and then, but I never know what's licensed...the only genuine set I have is from the NYC MGS4 launch, and a set from the California launch as well (where the voice actors signed). They're crappy plastic so the quality isn't there but is still a hot item on ebay.

I don't think I have anything spectacularly rare, but I do have a PAL Promo copy of MetalGear Solid 3: Subsistence, which comes in a double-CD case. I'm really fond of it, as I can place it alongside some of my other favourite Kojima games, which all come in similarly sized boxes (Mega CD Snatcher, MGS: Integral, Saturn Policenauts, etc.). Due to the mobile phone ports, I also like to consider it as a very rare piece of MetalGear 2 merchandise. The boxart is surprisingly well detailed for a promo game, with a full blurb and even an exclusive one-page instruction sheet. If I hadn't bought one of these when I did, I probably wouldn't have seen another one again.

You could always get the dogtag from the PAL MGS Premium Pack. That's not too hard to find.

Very nice!

I've considered buying the japanese hagane system (the jap made one, NOT the chinese made asia one) but I don't really know if it will hold it's value as a collectors item in time. I mean, it'd cost me $700 which is fine but I don't know if it'll only be worth (sell for) $300 in the future. Keep in mind I'd just end up keeping it sealed because I'm so anal about collecting, and I already own 2 PS3 systems (one I just use as a blu-ray player in another room).

There aren't really any collectible PS2s, dreamcasts, n64's etc that were limited that close very high so unless you plan on using the system it probably won't be worth it for me.

IF however they put the foxhound or kojima productions logo on the system I would've bought it in a heartbeat.

It is a nice system though heh.

You're right. This outside box is written in English, French and Spanish. Same as the white 80GB PS3 console... However, I still would not know if it's the same for the game box since I haven't opened it... It's still SEALED. If the game box here is the exact same LE game box that was distributed at Gamestop, it would only look like this...

As for how long I could keep my PS3 gun metal sealed???... That depends on how good my self-control is... #-o =P~

If you haven't opened it yet that's a good sign. Just be careful, don't think you can get that transparent sticker off and be able to put it back on without it being noticeable.

Trust me, I've tried with those stickers before heh. Once you open it, it's a used system wether you plug it in or not! To the finicky collector that is.

DAMN I want one of those. There's one on ebay signed by Kojima from the NYC launch but it starts at a grand (no bids, will close tonight). The box is signed however, not the system. I think the guy should've opened it and let him sign it.

Because right now he's selling a signed box with new gunmetal PS3 inside. An actual signed gunmetal PS3 (in silver marker) would be incredible.

So my advice, only open it if you're going to get it signed by Kojima heh. And if that's the case, get proof of him signing, then email me with your paypal account and I'll give you alot of money for it heh.

The Japanese one has no seal at all, neither an external bag or nothing. Different cultures I guess.., strange considering how the Japanese release of the Hagane is way more limited than the US one.

Japan really sucks for sealed items.

My gold premium package, 20th ann collection and mgs4 collection are all wrapped in plastic but it's a mere couple inches of clear tape holding them closed. You'd think with the technology in general they'd come up with better than that heh.

If they famicom and super famicon games ever came sealed they'd be INSANE collector items, but since they're not there's no diff between new and used as far as value.

As I mentioned, different culture for that kind of items. Premium items are rarely sealed... just over the counter ones (and it makes sense, if you think about it). The premium ones are usually in the same way your PP came. For instance, the Twin Snakes Game cube, The Subsistence Pack with the headset, MGS3 PP, all were delivered in the same way if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the pic. I think that's the single card version however. There's a single card they sent to shareholders as well as a set of 2 they sent (I have the latter). I think it's the same pix as what's on that card but snake and raiden are seperate. Thanks for the pix!

One of my favs too. I love the big bold letters at the top that say "SOLID SNAKE". I remember when I first got it I couldn't believe how huge the case was, which is a plus because it really stands out in a collection.

Oh indeed, it is one of the nicest boxes I have ever seen.
Since then I discovered the MSX had lots of such boxes, if you compare that to the poor card boxes we had here for games it is clear that the Japanese thought more highly of games.
