Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
Hi guys, this is an appeal for as many HIGH RES POSTER pictures we can get for the wiki. TSi and I are workign hard on a poster and promo item gallery and we want a definitive gallery of ALL Metal Gear posters in existance from MG - MGS4. Please help. Come on Violent and Bay I know you have a ton so help out! lol.
TSi have you any thought of ideal pixel sizes for these bad boys?
If you could upload your pics toan image hosting site then I will donwload them and upload them to the wiki, my reasoning is that I personally would like all pictres to be the same size.
Thanks fellas, may the hunt begin!

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
You're best to upload what you already have so others don't waste their time gathering up images that you already have. I think I've got a few things I can take pictures of, but I'll probably borrow a higher-resolution camera first. It's also probably better to set a standard image size and allow others to crop and upload the photos themselves. Maybe you want to assure the quality of each image, but I'm sure you'll tire of changing image sizes the whole time.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
We should try to do a 250-400px width if we are trying for a horizontal gallery.
It will really depend on what happens with how each user take a picture. I'm sure we would want to put in a clear image though. We will really have to play around with the pictures and the size to make everything look right.
And 87th, having a high resolution camera is good, but it is not needed, it is because when we post something of such high resolution, there will be warnings when we try and upload it.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
Here's an example... I just took a picture of it.
so basically, all you gotta do is link it: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3223/283 ... fa26_b.jpg
too bad its all rolled up and wrinkled... those people at HMV has no respect for MGS posters at all. (oh well, at least its free)
EDIT - jon, I found that anything over 200px is actually rather large on the wiki. So I would say that if everyone upload images close to how I did mine, even 150 - 200px will be enough on the page. Then they can click in to see a bigger resolution (I'd say 500px width maxed)

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
Here's all the ones I'm planning to photograph-
MGS2 PAL PlayStation 2 Pack Poster
MGS3: Snake Eater (Gamesmaster Snake/The Boss poster)
MGS3: Snake Eater (CVG Camouflage Poster)
I have a few more (such as the PAL Premium Pack one), but I think high-quality images of those posters can be found online, already.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
87th... I know that listing all content/menus at MGS3S(PAL) is a bit to much. But why can't we have the name of the discs at the page? This will help people who are confused how many discs there actually is in the PAL version. In future updates it would be good with a picture of box-front, box-back, manual and all three discs. That makes the page about the release complete. So why can't we even list the names of the discs?
"Disc 3: Existence (not included in all versions) " at the MGS3S page is not really enough.
Isn't MG and MG2, MSX2 ports? What is the meaning of "mobile ports"?
One more thing, there is no idea of making pages of collectable stuff if we can't find them. Searching at the site doesn't help very much. We could need a list.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
I'll see what I can do. I can only really take pictures of my framed items as the rest are in tubes until I get frames. They're so tightly rolled they take a good 24 hrs to "loosen up" enough I can safely unroll them without fear of damage so I can take a good picture, which I prefer to do as little as possible.
I may actually have the high-res versions of the ones on my website (taken with my 8.1mp camera) that are quite large, I'll have to check my other computer at home.
I have trouble getting good pictures of items in frames unless I go at an angle, the flash has too much glare. If I turn the flash off no matter how light the room is the picture comes out blurry (I think it's a camera defect as it didn't used to do that).

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
What the hell is long exposure heh (I'm actually not joking)
But seriously, I used to be able to take pictures without the flash and they were prefect, but now, even in sunlight if I take a picture without the flash (I actually have to manually keep it on) the picture comes out blurry
Maybe you're right, maybe there's some setting I don't have on or something that needs to be changed...I got no idea
As much as I love my website and gallery I'd love to improve the pictures.
The camera is a casio 8.1mp but it's about 2 years old now and has taken a few good falls (including one down the steep steps on the Great Wall of China last year and into a puddle).

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
haha, blame the photographer, not the camera =P
when you take off flash, and it is blurry because your hand shakes, try taking off flash, putting the camera on the table and then just press the "shoot" button, it wont blur.
you can always send me your camera, and your stuff XD XD XD and then ill start shooting some pictures for you ahahahah.
but yeah, if you dont *hold* your camera and take a picture of the item with long exposure, it will turn out a LOT better. I mean, I only use a 4.4mp camera, and most of my pics dont have the "flash blind".

Yeah I tried it, still the same. Like I said, it used to work fine before. I'll probably end up buying a new camera and the end of the year before I head to Japan so hopefully I won't have the same prob.

Heh, I will be able to buy things for people on my trip. If I find something on someones wants list I'll be letting them know if they want me to buy it for them. Once I get a paypal payment or deposit I'll go back and buy it and work it out from there. I'll probably have a thread going for the whole trip which will either take place this xmas or next spring. I may know this weekend for sure dates.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
This content is better suited to the general Subsistence page, since it covers most releases, rather than a specific one. I'm planning to add more scans in future too, but at the moment I'm concentrating on making a basic format for each type of page, rather than filling out all the details on every one.gixo wrote:87th... Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
I think images of each release is needed on each release's page. An example of what I was going for was the PAL MGS4 page. Though there's only two images so far, I'll put up scans of the manual, guide advertisement and such in the future. Feel free to use the code and use it on other pages.gixo wrote:Since JunkerHQ got loads of pictures of every part of the release. Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
ill look at getting some posters scanned up, a friend of mine basically scans then cleans up the images and stiches them together. it takes awhile, but the result is a very clean image that can be used for repro. then again, i dont really want to provide ways for people to repro for profit, so i'll probably not do this and just take a good picture at a resolution that won't be good for repro.

itd be nice to have either =D, hmm... i wonder if theres such thing as a "locked" part of wiki, where such high quality stuff would be just unlocked for certain groups.bay wrote:ill look at getting some posters scanned up, a friend of mine basically scans then cleans up the images and stiches them together. it takes awhile, but the result is a very clean image that can be used for repro. then again, i dont really want to provide ways for people to repro for profit, so i'll probably not do this and just take a good picture at a resolution that won't be good for repro.

That's very nice. Thanks, time to upload some pics =D87th wrote:I think images of each release is needed on each release's page. Shouldn't we make a sort of gallery at the pages with thumbnails and descriptions. A template is maybe needed?
Haha, though the same "damn, PM those high-res scans ^^"TSi wrote:itd be nice to have either =D, hmm... i wonder if theres such thing as a "locked" part of wiki, where such high quality stuff would be just unlocked for certain groups.bay wrote:ill look at getting some posters scanned up, a friend of mine basically scans then cleans up the images and stiches them together. it takes awhile, but the result is a very clean image that can be used for repro. then again, i dont really want to provide ways for people to repro for profit, so i'll probably not do this and just take a good picture at a resolution that won't be good for repro.

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
Just found out about Gallery formatting. It'll automatically arrange thumbnails in rows with captions. Here's an example of the code:
It's far easier to edit than regular thumbnails, too.
Code: Select all
<gallery>
Image:Photo1.jpg|Caption 1
Image:Photo2|Caption 2
</gallery>

Re: Kojima Collector Wiki
Guys this wiki is coming together so well. You've done a cracking job already. I'm sorry I've not had much input lately, been very busy, but rest assured I'll try my best to add more when I can.
P.S. 87th, I'm loving those galleries!
