I've just started work on the MGS4 page. People can feel free to add bits to the article, or use the subtopics on articles for other games. I'm directly merging the Overlapping Kojima Games topic and the Wiki articles, now.

Basically, just search for the phrase you want to make a page for, (e.g. Policenauts) then when there's no page there, you're given the option to create one from scratch. If you're unsure about how to get a good layout for your page, you're best to basically steal one from a professional-looking article on Wikipedia.

Excellent stuff, thanks mate. I thought I was going mad!

EDIT: I've added an "Extended Releases" section for stuff like VR missions and Substance. I personally think it's better to section them off from the original releases but I'm up for changing it and the name of the section (I'm not sure "Extended" is the right word!) if anyone has any other suggestions.

Also, assuming the "Releases" section is for PSX, PS2, PS3 games, should we create a section for "Other Platform Releases"?

Also, other thoughts...Should we do a section for "Games Releases" and group all of the aforementioned sections in that big section, use it as a parent section. Then do sections for posters, promo items, guide books and print etc.?

What are you guys thoughts on this?

Thats why i have prices: $60(J) or $60(NA) or $60(E)

J = japan, NA = north america, E = europe /pal
releases... we're only really doing black original, unless its special.... i mean, a GH isnt really worth much to a collector neways.

I agree totally to be honest guys. It'll be simple to implement, I'll get to it when I get a chance. The reason I think it'll be better to column it off rather than use "/"'s to split the regional prices up is because, again, it structures it better and makes it easier to read.

Good job on the prices TSi! :)

true, but think about it this way...

would we need 3 columns for sealed AND unsealed? or just sealed? or just unsealed? or what happens?!
like when that starts to happen, a lot of info needs to get updated, people will slack off a lot more, and then it wont get updated anymore.

Third on the columnt prices.

... But thats not what i meant. We need those categorys for the pages about the items.
Look at this page for an example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16_mm_film
The Category is "Movie film formats". If we could add "MGS2" And "PAL" to the Metal Gear Solid 2 : Substance - page. I would be alot easier to organize all the items avaible. And of course an category with "Collectables" where all items will be listed.
Btw, is there a way to upload pictures?

edit: Make the columns shorter, then we will have space for all regions. Try:
[NTSC-J / NTSC-J (sealed)] | [NTSC / NTSC (sealed)] | [PAL / PAL(sealed)]

Ok I'm just trying this out and it's difficult without identifying each column, if I'm finding trouble with a degree in web design, I know others will struggle.

Artemio, you may want to put this in another thread for "wiki code and specifics(?)" discussion but I wasn't sure if you wanted to split things up and have two seperate threads on what will probably culminate into the same topic eventually anyway.

Here's the code:

Code: Select all

|-
! Title
! Format
! NTSC-J / NTSC-J (sealed)
! NTSC / NTSC (sealed)
! PAL / PAL(sealed)
|-
| colspan="5" | ''Metal Gear''
|-
| [[Metal Gear]]
| MSX2
| align="center" |?
| align="center" |?
| align="center" |?
|-
| Metal Gear
| IBM PX
| align="center" |?
| align="center" |?
| align="center" |?
So my idea is whether or not to put identifyers on the fields before hand, like so:

Code: Select all

|-
! Title
! Format
! NTSC-J / NTSC-J (sealed)
! NTSC / NTSC (sealed)
! PAL / PAL(sealed)
|-
| colspan="5" | ''Metal Gear''
|-
| [[Metal Gear]]
| MSX2
| align="center" |? Y / ? Y
| align="center" |$ ? / $ ?
| align="center" |£ ? / £ ?
OR

Code: Select all

|-
| Metal Gear
| IBM PC
| align="center" |JPY ? / JPY ?
| align="center" |USD ? / USD ?
| align="center" |GBP ? / GBP ?
Of course, this means that we will have to do currency converting for all regions before changing prices.

For anyone who wants to know this code will look like this on the finished wiki page (as a row in the table of course):

| Metal Gear | MSX2 | ? Y / ? Y | $ ? / $ ? | £ ? / £ ? |
or
| Metal Gear | IBM PC | JPY ? / JPY ? | USD ? / USD ? | GBP ? / GBP ? |

Its getting too complicated.

For me... If I was one of the people who will update it, I'd get pissed at the conversion I have to do for every single one of them.

I'd say, if its so hard to go to xe.com to find your conversion, you dont deserve the right to use this database.

theres no need to keep values in every denomination

the initial release price should be based on region price.

the last known value should be in the region it was last recorded.

a median value of last known prices can be in whatever the updater feels like using.

it is however common for a market price of an item to be different in two different regions. i'm not sure what is best to do in this situation.

Basically, the way these things work is that someone does as much as they can be bothered to do, and then other people get annoyed at the imperfections and fill-in the blanks. This makes a complete, well-designed article, eventually. If you want to do a bit of work on this, go ahead, as every little bit helps. Just don't take too much pride in what you've written, as it'll likely be changed by someone else who has different ideas for the article.

Yeah I agree 87th, however it is hard to know what's best! I'll see if I can think it through a bit more!

Thanks Artemio for the Collector's Page, great idea.

Adding: MG Soundtrack page, and MGS3 Unofficial Soundtrack. Not sure if my info is correct, I know the exact titles aren't so please feel free to sort that out.

Soundtrack list: http://wiki.junkerhq.net/index.php?titl ... und_Tracks

MGS3 Unofficial: http://wiki.junkerhq.net/index.php?titl ... ck_(Japan) - lol, I just wanted to clear up which one I meant because I didn't want people going in and typing the wrong stuff on it! Don't worry, I'll add to it soon!

jonthomas83, you mention unofficial soundtracks.. but there are official releases of both of the ones you mention. I have both and they do have the Konami logo just as all the other ones. You can check out and use the scans at Junker HQ.

Yes, there is a category called "collector data".

So if you make a page called item or something, it can into that category.

EDIT: someone tell me if this format is okay...

I see. good. but i meant, instead of making these 4 diffrent pages:
* Metal Gear Solid 2: Promotional Items
* Metal Gear Solid 3: Promotional Items
* Metal Gear Solid 4: Promotional Items
* Metal Gear Solid: Promotional Items

Wouldn't it be good with one page/category which lists everything (and not in an alphabetic order). Oh, and fun my collection was on the site =D Too bad i can't see my hits
