I just wanted to ask a question about sealed items and the different kinds of seals we all see regularly, this thread is intended to be a quick, understandable and illustrative guide on how to identify re-sealed and genuine factory sealed items.

So I'll start off...

I know that this type of seal is genuine:
Taped to the back of the item.
Taped to the back of the item.
However, increasingly, I'm seeing more and more sealed on the side/edge, like so:
Taped to the side edge of the item.
Taped to the side edge of the item.

As a guide, is that a real Japanese factory seal for a premium package?

Also, it'd be great if someone could upload some photo's explaining the differences between genuine factory sealed items and re-sealed items. The more photo's the better chance we have of avoiding crap! :)

some items were never sealed or have a shoddy seal like the above, i wouldn't consider the seal in these cases, rather the condition of the items, and the seals of the items inside the box itself.

I almost have to see it in person. The way they fold the premium packages is quite unique, and you can usually tell if something has been retaped. The old tape taken off will "pull" at the plastic and/or even leave residue. Pic 2 looks re-taped (although everything inside may be sealed) and pic 1 looks a little rough as well.

It's hard to tell with small pictures, but a 1024x800 good quality picture I should be able to tell.
