Has Kojima done away with promotional material?

I'm just curious to know whether any informational promos were given out at TGS for either Portable Ops or MGS4. Kojima has always provided nice little pamphlets in the past loaded with teasers and extra tidbits that add to his overall presentation, but I haven't heard anything about it at this year's show. I hope he hasn't done away with any of that.

Yeah, there were goods given out at the show, but I don't know exactly what yet (everyone who answered the KP survey was entered into a random drawing to win the goods given out at TGS, it said). They should appear in the photos section of Hidechan soon, so I'll keep my eye out.

They gave out a black envelope with pamplets, it is glossy and with some relief. Also booklets in the fashion of DS ones for the two ds games. And in some cases stickers and pendants of hidechan radio.

They are on their way, but the Xbox event in Barcelona delayed my friend for a week at least =)

Nice. I'll be eagerly awaiting photos of those.

Kojima appears on the cover of the latest Famitsu. This is the first time the magazine has ever had a game designer on its cover.

I didn't realise that Kojima was as popular in Japan as he is in the west. Congratulations to him, though- I really believe he deserves it!

I was reading a list of the top 100 games as voted by the Japanese public, and all three Metal Gear Solid titles made it on the list. Both MGS2 and MGS3 were in the top 50. I guess he is held in some level of high-esteem, even if he doesn't top the charts beyond most Square-developed RPGs. But compared to America and Europe, the impact probably isn't anywhere near as large.

I think he's very popular in Japan, maybe just as popular as outside Japan. It's just that there is so much more territory when you combine the US, Europe, and the rest of the world, so naturally there are going to be more people even if the percentage of fans to the general population is the same.

I know that MGS and ZOE are loved in Japan, but I didn't realise they were as interested in the man who created them as western fans are.

Even before MGS, he received wide support and admiration in Japan for his other games like Snatcher and Policenauts.
