Metal Gear Johnny , ACID Style
Would be like:

Movement Card:

Falling down the Stairs

Attack +5

Attack Card:

Farting

Makes the Enemy unable to attack for 2 rounds

Stunning Chances modified by 100 %

Honestly, I don´t think the world is ready for a story which is placed after MGS 4...

God, your such a pessimist, MGS4 wasn't THAT bad and even if it is a kiss-fan-ass like MGS4 it will still be a good game.

I'd rather be a cynic than whatever you call yourself. I really have no intention of getting into any argument over the merits of MGS 4, again, especially not with you.

So you're just going to be a dick about it? I can't appreciate that, sorry.

I wasn't trying to poke out an argument, I was just stating something, I had no intention of following up that comment, it was just a harmless observation, you are very pessimistic.

I hope the "canon" is no more and the next Metal Gear reinvents itself.

Kinda like megaman has been done during years.

Well I apologize for blasting off at you like that, they way you worded your post is seemed like it was an attack, so I apologize for that. However,

1. I think I have the right to be cynical, because I personally felt let down by the past few games, and from what I've seen it doesn't seem like it's gonna get any better anytime soon, again, this is the way I feel.

2. I'm not a pessimist, or a cynic, I'm a realist.

and the one that pretty much negates everything,3, this;

Is not meant to be taken seriously. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that everyone would understand that. I understand that it's somewhat hard to determine intent on the internet, but me bashing mgs has become kind of a running gag on this forum (I know we've been over this before) so I assumed it would be understood that it was a joke, like all the times previously.

And it's wrong, it's just a rumor started by a member of NeoGAF's forum.

Actually, we don't know anything about this "next Metal Gear".

I wish people would stop trying to figure it out because no one will, thats the whole point, it'll only make sense once we have more info.

according to kotaku we'll know in a few weeks.

Man, Kojima's future seemed so bright some months ago. The David story had come to an end and there were those Project S rumors...

Why suddenly it's all so... less than exciting? :|

Metal Gear Solid Touch is the official name of the game.

I kinda knew it was going to be something like that and not any big game for PS3 or XO...

Well, I'm dissapointed that it's not a new PS3 game, a prequel, a Substance version of MGS4, etc etc... But I'm relieved that it's a game that I can probably live without. :P

WTF!? Is that just an MGS4 version for Ipod & Touch? God damn it, my hopes got up for a new PS3 MGS game for a second there.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone with an Iphone / Itouch, who also knew their way around programming, managed to torrent a self-executable for PC users within 6 months of it's release.

It depends though. If they use Java like they did for the MGS Cell Phone game (.jar), this wouldn't be hard to play on a regular PC, & perhaps, eventually, homebrew PSP.

Just throwing it out there, but it would worth while I think, considering how much gameplay they sqeezed into a litle over 2mb java file on the cell phone (that game was no joke either, after not playing with the MGS1 game physics & mechanics in a little over 3 years...)

Iphone software is normally developed in Objective-C (using Apple's Cocoa API). There's no Java development environment for the Iphone as of yet if I'm not mistaken.

In order to run Iphone software on PC you'd need to get full-blown emulation going or reverse engineer the data format, then develop an interpreter that'll run natively on your OS of choice.

looks more like an interactive movie type thing than a full blow Metal Gear game.

Wait, does that mean that this will turn out like "Dragon's Lair" or "Space Ace"?

God...those games...

judging from the pictures it looks like it'll turn out more like MGS4... ugh

I'm actually very curious to see how this game is controlled/what the fuck it is.

EDIT: I'm willing to bet that those mgs4 screens are just a demo to show how the game works rather than the game it self. Could be wrong though.

I think it will be played like a point and click shooting game, like some of the games you can get for the DS. Sort of like Touch the Dead for DS (AKA House of the Dead for DS). It'll practically just be a shooting gallery, on rails and all. I doubt the iTouch/iPhone can handle anything more then that, to be honest. And I'm doubting they shall bring it out in Western territories... In other words, it ain't worth your time or effort, chaps (unless you're a Metal Gear collector, of course).

yeah it looks like it could go that way also, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Or have someone translate that mag.

IGN has the details... :)
US, December 17, 2008 - Following up on our earlier report of Metal Gear Solid's appearance on iPhone/iPod Touch in the form of Metal Gear Solid Touch, we've stumbled upon a few new details on the game through the latest issue of Japan's Weekly Famitsu game magazine.

The magazine offers details on the game's control scheme. As revealed early today, you slide your finger on the screen to move Snake's view around. You then tap to make Snake fire. Zooming in and out make use of pinch gestures, where you place two fingers on the screen and slide them together or apart.

As you might have figured out, you don't move Snake about the stages like you did in Metal Gear Solid 4. There is more to the game than just shooting, though. At the end of each stage, you'll be treated to still shots that push the story forward.

Famitsu also scored an interview with Metal Gear series mastermind Hideo Kojima and with MGS Touch creative producer Yasuyo Watanabe.

In response to the question of Metal Gear Solid 4 being the base for Metal Gear Solid Touch, Kojima told the magazine that the content of Touch is really the full content of MGS4. Kojima's meaning is a bit unclear, but this does imply that the connection with MGS4 will go deeper than just the setting and enemies.

Describing MGS Touch as a "Simple MGS," Kojima explained the decision to go with a shooting game. The game's development staff initially considered a stealth approach, but decided that this would result in a difficult game to play on trains and in other places where one might play games on their iPhone. They ended up deciding to go with a shooter that you play by touching the screen because it would be easy to pick up.

Watanabe had praise for the iPhone/iPod Touch platform, saying that there's quite a bit one can do with the touch controls, and also noting the ease of development.
