 Are they worth it?
I can get both the ps2 games for about $45, and I was wondering what they were like, and If they are worth it. Thanks!

At that price, the answer is yes. The second one is excellent, the first one is just good. but the second one is worth much more than 50, s I'd say it is an easy decision.

Second Runner is the game that justifies Kojima's decision to make ZOE. ZOE is good, but not quite the level of quality we're used to from Hideo Kojima. Second Runner is something else completely.
Did the Special Edition ever come out in America? I was really happy with my copy.

No it never did. Only the Japanese got a redition from Europe.

Guys, I bought the first one for $7. I think you could probably go a lot cheaper than $45.

No, I can pay only $45, and get both...I'm not paying $90. What about fist of mars for GBA? it's $15 at my local game crazy.

What he means is you can get both for a combined price of less than $45.

Word.
Based on prices I've seen, I wouldn't hold out for more than $30 for both games, but ZOE2's been hard to find these days so don't quote me on that.
Also Fist of Mars... It's interesting. Personally, I wouldn't pay $15 for it, but if you're a completist then go for it.

Fist Of Mars is okay. It's an Advance Wars style tactical strategy, but Kojima didn't have much to do with it. It's a side-story rather than part of the main series. I'd recommend it more highly than the anime series', but that's not saying much. If you enjoy Tactial Strategy games or Science Fiction anime, I say go for it. Otherwise, it's not really worth it.

Ok. thanks...it would be kind of like fire emblem then, right? I loved fire emblem and am trying to figure out how this game plays. I got 2 for 29.99 today, and one is about $4. That seemed about right, right?

I'm not great with American game prices, but comparing that to European, it sounds very good.

Dammit, I wanted that collection! I have never played Z.O.E 2 and I've heard it's good. I never really like the first game, it was alright, rather average to be honest, but still, I'm willing to give the sequel a go. You beat me to it though it seems!

I was really happy with the second one. It sorted out everything that put me off the original (especially since the extra missions on the Special Edition really boosted replay value). The only thing that puts me off replaying it is the fact that ZOE seems like a pretty boring series compared to most of Kojima's other games, even if ZOE2 can stand up against most.

Yeah, I haven't played one yet, but two is amazing...also made me question Kojima's claim that Policenauts wouldn't work because of the lip-syncing during the cut-scenes, even though the ones in The Second Runner were fine...thus leading me to believe that his reasoning was total bull-shit...

Well, yeah, I've always thought that excuse from Kojima was a load of bull...
Like I've said before, he sometimes does say some rather silly things like that.
But I'll keep searching for Z.O.E 2, since it does sound very good.

Well, I doubt he ever asked the localisation team about the lip-synching. I think it's just a concern he had, and never expressed to anyone before the English version was cancelled. I don't think he would have thought about how popular Japanese dubs of Disney films are, or how America has been used to dubbing not fitting with lip movements since Bruce Lee.

According to Kojima, things never got past the preliminary discussion stage. So many contradictions in the whole thing...

I played the first Zoe game a few years back and it was between average and crap imho, but many people say Zoe 2 is a huge leap in quality from the first game so i really want to check it out. The story is the only thing that interested me in the first game but it did also have its moments of interesting combat i suppose. Its really hard to find Zoe 2 now, a few months back konami had a deal on their website where you could purchase it for 20$, but it was always sold out before i could order so i've been out of luck.

Yeah, I've managed to play ZOE 2 as well now, very impressive stuff indeed. I didn't like the first game at all really, but hell, the second game is amazing!
Can anybody inform me who wrote the storyline? (Since I know it was not Kojima).

Shuyo Murata has written both ZoE games.
There is also few other writers, but if i'm correct, Shuyo is the (so called) main writer...

^ It's alright, the dubbing is good really I think, bnothing that bad with it. I'm hoping to acquire a Japanese version however, with luck soon.
And thanks Solide, Murata is a very talented, underrated writer I think, he's always helping Kojima with the writing on the MGS games these days.
