ZOE3 Script (!?)

A page on a Japanese Kojima Productions Blog (unconnected from HIDEOBLOG) has something on it about ZOE3!
http://www.blog.konami.jp/gs/kojiprog/2 ... 000429.php
The link at the bottom seems to be a ZOE3 script!
http://www.blog.konami.jp/gs/kojiprog/atl_02.php
Whether these confirm the 3rd game in the series, or if this is just an official script to follow up ZOE2 and please fans who want more closure is uncertain, but we can put it though a(n unreliable) online translator!

From what I can understand it seems that this is either a script from a section of the cancelled game, or if it's a script from a new game directed by Noriaki Okamura. It might even be called "Zone Of the Enders 3: Atlantis", but I'm not going to start calling it that because of some babble off of Google's Translation service!

If anyone who knows Japanese can tell me what it's all about, It'll be good of you, but I'd also like to hear what everyone thinks (if only for entertainment's sake ).

So has everyone given up on the series?

I'd love for a ZOE 3 to be created man.. as much as anyone I believe. Anubis was one of the geratest games I've ever enjoyed playing, and as an overall piece of work. I even kept a sealed copy of it that came into my hands last year.

I overread the blog, not that I undesrtand much of it, since my Japanese is still not that good. It feels like some fan fiction, or side stories. It indeed reads at the top "Zone of Enders" 3th time around.

The parts I read deal with Leo, and some unknown characters (Ciruela (?), Elena, Jeronimo, Sera...), and also another AI in a LEV called DOLL.

It'd be a bit strange to see a "Fan-fiction" on an Official Konami website, but I suppose that the first we'll hear of ZOE3 will be an announcement from Kojima.

He's said he'll make it if there's enough demand, and considering the amount of people wanting MGS4 to be Kojima's last MetalGear, there might be. Thing is, most of the fans asking for him to stop are the hardcore fans who either want a Snatcher 2 or a new game altogether.

I fully agree... that's why I also added side story, and the word "feels". I don't understand much of it though.

I hope there is never a Snatcher 2 (as opposed to what I felt when I finished it), but a new game altogether would be more than welcome =)

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about the script if it has nothing to do with the next game in the series. If it does, however, I'd love to read a translation.

I think an Action/Adventure remake/prequel/spin-off of Snatcher starring Randam would be pretty cool. It wouldn't be quite as investigation heavy, and more action based, instead.

That's a fresh idea, indeed. Kind of what was done with ethe Bladerunner game, but with a character that is from the main series. Interesting.

I'm glad I managed to win you over. :D
Personally, I feel Neo Kobe is an incredibly interesting location for a game, but I wish that the was a little more exploration, involved. I'm not asking for a GTa-style free-roaming game, but having a chance to ride Randam's bike through the more run-down sections of town would be great. Walking through dark buildings and trying to make decisions over who's a Snatcher and who's human before firing your gun could be very exciting, too. I also feel that the modern gameplaying market would probably connect more with Randam than with Gillian.

Actually, I think that'd it make a better GTA-style game than anything else. In fact, if Konami did do a GTA-styled Snatcher sequel starring Randam I think it'd be one of their best selling games ever. Think about it... GTA's really big right now and science-fiction's always been big, but there's really been no big (i.e. not Scrapland) non-MMO game that's blended both things together. I think it'd be a great move on Konami's part.

Personally, I think such a set-up would take a lot away from the game, even if it helps sales. A lot of what made Snatcher so special were the little touches, if they model a full Neo Kobe, we're likely to see less of those. It's also going to be much harder to find out who's a Snatcher unless a NPC tells you, but that will take away a major part of the game.

If it's done right the game would have all kinds of little touches I'm sure, as long as the dev team has fun with the game. It would be that hard to find out who's a Snatcher either, they could implement all kinds of little mini-games and things.

They could easily put clever references and jokes in cutscenes and conversations, but in a large location character models will probably be repeated and a lot of murky textures will be used. There's unlikely to be much attention to detail in the less important areas. I don't usually care about visuals, but Kojima knows how to make use of them.

Ah, I never saw this before. If I had, I could have told you the 3 in there isn't in reference to a ZOE3, but the fact that that was the 3rd time in his blog he was discussing ZOE. And the script linked at the bottom is a part of the story that was cut, back from when the game was called Atlantis.
