Post Django name and movie references(Current Info and gathering)
Well, I plan on doing special pages for each Kojima game such as http://junkerhq.net/Snatcher/, of course with some general content, but also with someinformation that I haven't found elsewhere.

For instance Boktai has offered some interesting details posted by a friend at the Atomix forums, and whom I asked permission to post his gatherings along with appropiate credits. I want to give i format and wait til Bokta 2 is released to set this page, but meanwhile here is the info, transtaled and just as plain as it comes. Any additions are welcome:

Info by Django from the http://atomix.com.mx forums.

The game is aparently based on the movie DJANGO, (1966 http://imdb.com/title/tt0060315/ )where the main character is called Django, a Gunner born in San Miguel de Allende, who wears a large red scarf and who drags a coffin where he carries a machinegun.

There are aparently lots of pictures where this character appears, and where he always has the same distinguishing features. Also there are characters named Ringo (Has a scar and similar clothes) and Sabata (a rival and brother, who is faster shooting and running).

Finaly, just as a curious detail, these are Spanish movies that are bloody and action oriented.

Hope you enjoyed tehtidbits of info, I plan to expand and format this for the Boktai page....

The movie was great fun. I picked it up a couple of weeks ago. Boktai really got me into the Western theme. I was already partly there due to Wild Arms, but Boktai put me over the edge.

Other movie references in Boktai are the Wild Bunch (movie/special attact at end of game), and the movie Sabata staring Lee Van Cleef. Also, Django is played by Franco Nero in the movie. This is relevant because appearently they changed the name of a character in Boktai 2 (I'm not mentioning the name yet, I don't want to spoil anything) to Nero.

Oh, and I though the movie was Italian made. I'll check up on that.

Django is a classic spaghetti western.

I noticed the Coffin dragging was simular to the youngest Shaft Brother in Cowboy Bebop-
Image
In Mushroom Samba, he says the coffin is for a drug dealer named Domino. Domino's merchandise is what killed the older Shaft Brother, and his younger brother saught revenge (as soon as he meets Domino, his coffin gets run over by a truck).
I recently found out this was a referenece to the film Django, and released there must be a connection between the film and boktai.

The End kind of reminds me of a character I saw in Bebop. Some old guy who Ed plays chess with, but he's got the whole parrot on the shoulder and kind of acts like The End.

I suppose so (bear in mind, I live in Europe and can only base this in what i've seen in Trailers and footage from websites, etc.). I bought the Perfect Collection and Knockin' On Heaven's Door almost 2 years ago. Been a really big fan of it, ever since.

Didn't realize you don't have the game yet.

Don't worry about, it's hardly as if you slipped out a big spoiler.
