Post boktai DS confirmed! (No sun?)
It seems that some more news on boktai DS has finally come (I was starting to think that it was just a suggestion that was given out to a magazine or something). It seems that the reliance on playing the game outside has completely gone. Instead, you will rely on the power given from a virtual sun in the top screen, which will rise, set and hide in clouds, suitably. boktai 3 was never given a western release, but hopefully they will be more enthusiastic to play a game that doesn't require you to live in a warm place.
Being British, I'm really glad to hear this. I could never get more than 4 bars in either game.

The first screenshot's on the-magicbox.com now (Feb 17th). I'd post a direct link to the image, but that doesn't work too well on that website.

I can't remember any talk of boktai 3's announcement in the western press, so I think Konami didn't release it here because of lack of interest. My Google Alerts show around 12 American and British websites mentioning the new game. I think it's more likely that this will come out over here.

So sorry, I've not been keeping up here. I post all the updates at GameFAQs as most people that are interestedhaven't come over here yet. I tried once to get people here, but got in trouble at Game FAQs.

Anyway, here is my photobucket album which I just made public. I put Coro Coro scans there. The newest scan is the "other" page to the Boktai DS scan that you've probably seen. This one shows all Sabata action, using a sword, new partner for Sabata, some new enemies, and a new location...a train station.

You'll also notice my accessory that I made, and the different versions I went through. Again, lastest comes first, oldest is last. I haven't yet updated the album with my newest device (Advance Del Sol, or Sol de Advance, can't decide). But, since Boktai DS doesn't need the sunlight, I don't need to make one for that.

Actually it was announced by Famitsu that you can use old Boktai games as a Solar Sensor while playing Lunar Knights. So Lunar Knights really gets "real sun"

From IGN.com;
Quote:
May 12, 2006 - We already provided you with a full hands on with Lunar Knights, the DS successor to Konami's Boktai series of sun-sensitive games. The latest issue of Famitsu contains one bit of info on the game that we're certain the series' most hardcore fans will appreciate.

One of the big changes the DS version makes to the series is the removal of dependence on the real sun. The Game Boy Advance entries have a sun sensor built into the cartridge, and the only way to properly play the game is to have the sensor directly hit by sunlight -- something that proves to be pretty difficult without the cooperation of the weather. Lunar Knights ditches the sun sensor, instead making use of a fake in-game sun.

In the magazine, series mastermind Hideo Kojima reveals that the DS title can also be played like the Game Boy Advance titles. If you have one of the Game Boy Advance games plugged into the DS's cartridge port, Lunar Knights will make use of the older title's sun sensor. You'll then have the option of playing the game either way.

We presume this will hold true for the US version of the game as well. Don't get rid of those Game Boy Advance cartridges yet, Boktai fans!

Leave it to Kojima to find a solution to a seemingly insolvable problem.
