New forum engine

Post by Artemio »

As you have probably noticed by now, the phpBB engine for the forums was fully upgraded. This was den for security reasons, since there had been some malware attacks on the site and he forums were the source of the vulnerable part that was targeted.

I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by this, although I feel it is for the best. I will miss the old skin that we've been using for 4 years, and I must admit I was quite used to the layout.

Everything should be working in the same way though, and there should be more options available to you as an user. If you find any anomaly please report it in this thread or send me a PM.

The skin might not be the final one, it is the best I could come up with today since I had no time to work on it, neither are my talents in the area any good. So you can suggest themes for PhPBB 3.0 here as well that you might like to be added as options or as the main skin. We'll see if we can accommodate that.
From the mathematical perspective, consciousness might be regarded as a second derivative of sensation.

I understand the need to change and all, but I really prefered the previous layout scheme :x
It has this retro feeling that suits games like Snatcher or Policenauts. Also, this one has less contrast which isn't so good for the eyes I think.
But anyway, I support your doings~

I improved contrast a bit, I hope it helps. If you find anything that still has low contrast please notify me.

I also liked the retro feel of the other layout.. but unfortunately it cannot be imported to the new scheme... a whole rewrite would be needed.

Might I ask what is the name of the new board software you are using? I was using myBB or whatever it's called on my site and the security holes are endless.

But yeah, if you're just going by text color, it can be hard to pick them out. Artemio is away for a few days, but I'll mention it to him when he gets back.

We are using phpBB, Just as before. We only upgraded from version 2 to ver 3, so far we had kept doing small patches. You can download it from the link at the bottom of each page.

I'll be back tomorrow, and see what I can improve in visibility. Working on stuff like that from the cellphone is not a good idea.

I've had problems changing my signature on the new engine. If I want to include an image I always receive this error message.
It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.
If there was an anti-sig-image policy in the JUNKER HQ, I'd happily accept it, but it's never been that way in the past, so I doubt that's the issue at hand.

There is no such policy just as you guess. Please post the image here or send it to me in a PM so I can try to figure out the problem. I am guessing it is a problem with the format of the image itself, maybe the forum engine and imagemagik cannot determine it's validity/dimensions.

It's just the standard killer7 signature I have at the moment. I wanted to keep it, but edit out my Wii Friend Code and PSN contact details. I also wanted to get rid of the "Who ever heard of "Pussy Snatchers"?" image, but when I tried to keep it (and my killer7 one), I received an error message for each one.

I'm having a problem with my pc where half the time I try to go to a new topic, it comes up with the message that internet explorer couldn't find page and all that. I tried it on another computer, and it didn't have that problem, but half the time the pages would load VERY slowly (it would take about half a minute) and I'm on high speed internet. If I'm doing something wrong to cause this then pray tell, if not, then I guess there's probably not much you can do to fix it anyway.

It is a standard feature of the boards. It is intended as a convenience for users. You are alerted of other friends online at the same time from your cp, and foe's posts are not shown I believe. The forum faq has the full description.

The foe feature doesn't seem to have all that much of a use here, but I guess it comes along with the friends function.

Most probably a spam filter, mailing form the server has been working for me. Do you get mail with PMs? We can try that.

It doesn't really notify me or anything, even about PMs. (if I understood your question.) Maybe my email account's security got boosted up or something. I have a hotmail address. If anyone else has one, then could they please tell me whether they still recieve notifications.
