Are you going to import a PSP?

A forum to talk about stuff that doesn't fit in other categories, such as general Kojima games discussion, other games, etc.

Are you going to import a PSP?

Post by Ninja Kurosai »

I was planning to import one, mainly because of the Region Free features for games, and also because when it comes to new releases I cannot wait, and this Christmas will be the last chance for me to get it for a WHILE. What do you guys plan to do?

You must be crazy! Do you know how much shipping adds to imports.

I'm waiting till Sony releases the next model of PSP. Maybe a different color or something. I'll pick it up next winter with some budget games. Unless I have $250 (my guesstimate of system and game) burning a hole in my pocket.

Me, I'll probably do what I do normally with new systems: wait like 2 or 3 years and get them when they're cheap. I got an n64 a few months ago, great system.

Of course, this won't help you at all if you prefer the latest and greatest. I'm more of a 'most game for my dollar' sort of person, so for me waiting makes the most sense. Especially since I really like my SP, and it'll be hard to beat.

Metal Gear Acid does have my attention however.

N64 came out 7 years ago. I bought it the first day it came out. I lived for the hype of a new game coming out. The nights before Goldeneye, Mario Kart, and Zelda :TOoT were sleepless ones.

Since I am working on PSP, I don't need to import one :) but if I would need to, I wouldn't. Games may be region free, they are still in Japanese, movies are not region free, and I keep hearing these persistant rumours that the WiFi will not be compatible with later US and EU PSP versions, which kinda sucks.

Besides, i am counting on Sony to improve the battery itself in the months between release in Japan and in Europe.

Yeah, you're right, Dave... I was just thinking of some old system or other I picked up just recently. I got Halo as well just a couple of months ago, which is a bit more current, but still not that recent. You get the idea :)

Rudi, what's that you say about you working on PSP?

I'm turning into a belated gamer as well. The only title I've felt compelled to pick up first day recently is MGS3. I can wait till other games drop in price.

I'm currently waiting for Burnout 3 to hit $20 as well as some other games.

Reagrding the PSP, I won't be importing it.. I'll wait. Sony has always imporved their consoles with time, contrasted to Nintendo who's first batch is virtually identical to the last one.... (of the same line of course)

I also bought my N64 quite late, about 3 or 4 years ago... to play several great game son it....

About new games I am excited about, I feel the same.. though I will buy for sure (appart from the obvious MGS3):

1) Feel the Magic XX/YY(DS)
2) Alien Hominid
3) Gran Turismo 4

Apparently I'll be saving around £80 by waiting for the European release in March, so the answer seems obvious to me.
