Anyone else played it? I was totally blown away by it. I can't wait for the full game now. Those guys have really outdone themselves.

To be honest, I found it terribly boring. I spent the whole race in the same position.

From a technical standpoint, the game is incredible, but I couldn't see myself buying and enjoying the full game.

I also played it, it is technically very good indeed. The garage looks gorgeous.

It is indeed for a specific type of public, and I am not in it. But I'll get it for my brother though. After all we have the GT4 wheel at home waiting for some action.

I'm not much interested in driving simulators either (can't I drive in real life?), but I have to say the GT franchise doesn't seem nearly as special now that Forza is on the market.

It's really just a demo of a demo, so there isn't much you can do in it. What I mean is seeing the level of detail there is already, then knowing how deep GT is, the final game will be something to behold. Not only is each car's interior fully modeled exactly as it is in real life, but we also have fully functional rear and side mirrors in the cockpit as well.

Sure you can drive in real life, but there are a lot of games where you can do the same thing in real life. If I drove in real life the way I drive in GT, I'd probably lose my license and end up in jail if I'm not on a track. Unless you live in Germany and own a supercar, this is as close as it gets to the real thing. This demo is probably the first driving game where I actually feel like I've just driven a car as depicted in the game, when I spend the race in cockpit view and have the surround sound turned up. You can even hear the outside air resistance once you start picking up speed.

I agree with Osiris. The experience you get from this game is unparalleled this far. A friend of mine just visited the developers a week before the release of this demo of the demo. The director was very enthusiastic about it, and the guys that work there really take stuff seriously. They *are* into cars way too deep. The detail in the product's demo just shows that.

I tried the demo with my Dual Shock 3 that arrived today, and the rumble is very well implemented. It feels better than previous GTs (the implementation, that is). More subtle shakes for subtle actions, for instance.

The controller itself is very nice. Heavier than the Sixaxis (about the same as the DS2, I suppose), though right now the levels of rumble only feel marginally deeper than before. I'll need to try it out with more games to be sure. This was actually the reason I've been holding back on Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted.

Great to hear that man. I've been holding on buying one, but this might be a good idea.. but not a good moment (with Christmas coming shipping over here is crowded.. slow).

I also have my eyes on Uncharted, I might buy it this weekend at LA.

I highly recommend it -- not just for vibration-ready games, but for the system in general (due to the weight and the overall better feel).

SoCal is a big import area, so I'd think shops there would have it in stock.

That sounds interesting.. any idea where I should look for them? I'll be staying at the Radisson Hotels & Resorts: Radisson Hotel Midtown Los Angeles, so anything close there would be great to find.. but it is my first visit to the city....

I went to LA about 4-5 years ago, and there were a lot of places selling Japanese games and consoles in Little Tokyo. The selection's nowhere near as good as shops in Japan, but I found a lot of obscure stuff, anyway.

No problem. I didn't much time there, but I didn't find any dedicated game shops in the area. Most of the games I found were in Otaku dens (with Dragonball Z costumes in the windows). If you can't find any dedicated game shops, look for the animé/manga shops as they should have game sections. It's been a while though, so it might all be different, now.

I received the full Prologue today, and it's even more impressive than the demo. We now see the driver's hand reach down to change gears, and the rear and side mirror graphics match the rest of the visuals. Can't comment on online play since it doesn't open till the 25th.

I tried both games on the same day at an electronics/entertainment store. Forza 2 physics are nice but even the GT5-Prologue version with the single track has better physics. I never, ever found any enjoyment out of all the tuning stuff in GT5. The developer of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital, has traditionally cited lack of car manufacturer support for car damage. GT5 is merely a GT with better graphics and more slowdowns. Like every Gran Turismo before it, Gran Turismo 5 raises the bar for visual realism.

I actually thought the "Prologue" was just the new name, and I didn't know it was't a full game when i got it.

The game looks and plays great, and has tons of cars...lacking in courses.
I was an owner of GT4 and missed not having rally and everything else that I'd come to love about the series.
Of Course then I found out that it was just a "tease" for the full game...which kinda pissed me off a bit.

I'm definately looking forward to the real GT5 whenever they release it...hopefully by the end of the year damn it!
Because it will actually be everything I wanted in a new GT game! I mean Rally, Weather, Day and Night racing, 1000 cars, 20 tracks, and DAMAGE!
"DAMN SNATCHERS!"
