I can't wait for you to pounce on Michigan.

As for the DS versions of Flower, Sun & Rain as well as The Silver Case titles, they all look like classic adventure titles with Suda's distinctively original flavour. Should be great. I want to know a release date, though. Suda has a lot going on right now, those ports, as well as taking part in the next Fatal Frame title, as well as this proposed Project S and has Kurayami to make straight afterwards. The chap has a lot of work cut out for him.

FSR is already out on DS in Japan if I remember correctly. The Silver Case titles are pretty damn horrible unless you're into really, really slow games. What really sucks is that unless you play the Silver games, you won't understand the story in FSR as one who has would.

And from what I understand, Kurayami is in development hell. Suda has a habit of talking too much during his interviews about what he is going to do, or what he has already planned to do.

I'm really eager to play the Japanese version of Michigan before I write anything on it for HG101. The PAL version is laughably bad in places, but I know that the localisation was to blame for a lot of that. I want to see if the Japanese version is as good as some reviews have suggested, or if they're biased because it's cool to like ghm at the moment.

FSR (or "Hana to Taiyo to Ame to") is out on DS in Japan. Apparently, the remake status has allowed Suda to reference some of the games he's made since the PS2 FSR. For example, i've seen a screenshot of Sumio dressed as Travis Touchdown.

Kurayami was a game that Suda suggested he'd do if a publisher wanted to pay for it. I think No More Heroes was a fair success in the west (I don't know about the US, but it's pretty high in the Wii charts over here), so I wouldn't be shocked if someone had picked it up by now.

I think he's planning to do a game for the 360 with "realistic visuals" next, anyway. I heard that he said that he's getting sick of being known as the cel-shading guy.

BTW is Michigan import friendly? I don't want to buy a game and then not be able to understand what I need to do or something like that, but I don't really wanna put up with the english version.

Did I make it clear that I'm yet to buy the Japanese version of Michigan? I've seen videos of that version, and it's full of Japanese dialogue and text. You can probably get through most of the game in Japanese, but most of the enjoyment in playing the game comes through the plot and your relationships with the other characters.

Though I wouldn't usually recommend the PAL version (unless you're looking for some cheap laughs at sub-Resident Evil acting and dialogue), I don't think Michigan would be very enjoyable without knowledge of the language used in-game. I think all someone could enjoy in the game that way is seeing how its concept works, and maybe get a cheap thrill from the soft-core CG pornography if they're that lonely.

To be honest, it's probably best to forget about the game for now, and wait for someone to do the concept justice. I really love the idea behind the Michigan, but the game's mechanics just don't work well enough. I'd like to see Suda take control of a follow-up to Michigan (he's listed as "ORIGINAL PLAN/EDIT" in the game's credits), as it should have been great, but the end result was just too much of a mess.

EDIT- Oh, I've got a way to connect my consoles to my PC now. I should be able to take screenshots. I'll probably send something in this week, if I can ever settle on one game/series.

Suda didn't have a whole lot of control over the game huh? That's too bad. I guess if it's in a bargain bin for a couple of bucks I'll buy it then. I have yet to play anything from his team, so I don't have first hand experience of his work. Still, I can't wait until FSR comes out along with the Silver Case. Those games sound like they're right up my alley.

You're probably better off sticking with Killer 7 and No More Heroes for the time being. Contact is decent, but it lacks the Suda touch.

No More Heroes is an accessible example of Suda's style, but killer7 is pretty much pure Suda (I think Shinji Mikami might have been able to force in some of his ideas in too, but there's nothing conflicting with the Grasshopper style). It's your choice. I think both games are fantastic, but killer7 is my favourite. With No More Heroes, Suda51 made a game with some art-like qualities. With killer7, he made art with some game-like qualities.
They're certainly the two best grasshopper manufacture games I've played so far, though.

(PS- I ordered the Japanese copy of Michigan from Hong Kong last night. As long as MGO/GTA4 don't distract me too much, I'll probably have something written by the end of the month)

I heard that No More Heroes is excellent, but I've heard mixed reviews on Killer7 (mostly due to the supposedly steep difficulty). I've got a ps2, so I think that's probably the only reason I haven't picked up Killer7.
