Your gaming history?

Got the idea from an interview in GamesTM, thought it would make a good idea for a topic here.
Here's a questionnaire to fill in about your experience and preference in video games. Feel free to make your answers as long or short as you like-
What was the first video game you played?
What was the first gaming system you owned?
What was the first game you bought for yourself?
First games system you bought for yourself?
Have you made any friends through your interest in gaming?
What is your most treasured game-related memory?
What is your favourite game of all time?
Do you play games as much as you did when you were younger?
How much has video games affected your life?
Here's my answers:
What was the first video game you played?
"The New Zealand Story" for the Atari ST. It came in a triple pack of Taito platform games, alongside Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands which I played shortly after.
What was the first gaming system you owned?
According to my parents, we had a Commodore 64 in the house before I was old enough to play it. The Atari ST was the first I actually got to play.
What was the first game you bought for yourself?
"Sonic The Hedgehog 3" for the Sega Megadrive. My parents had bought me Sonic & Knuckles the previous Christmas, so relied on a friend's copy of Sonic 3 to play the full game for a long time. Eventually, I found someone selling their copy for under £10 in the local newspaper. I personally phoned and visited the house to collect it, which was quite a big deal considering I was only around 7 or 8 years old at the time.
First games system you bought for yourself?
The Nintendo Gameboy Pocket. I sold my Megadrive to get a Gameboy, as I was excited about "MetalGear: Ghost Babel". I didn't get enough money for it to buy a Gameboy Color, so I bought a Pocket instead, hoping Ghost Babel would be compatible. I can't tell you how annoyed I was when I learnt it wasn't.
Have you made any friends through your interest in gaming?
Besides everyone I talk to on message boards and the like, I have made a bunch. Most of my friends in school were gamers. We used to act out games of "Streets of Rage" and "Mortal Kombat" on the playground the whole time.
What is your most treasured game-related memory?
It's very difficult to chose. I'd probably chose to remember all times I played Streets of Rage II and Gunstar Heroes with my best friend when we were kids. It sounds cheesy, but we share a flat (apartment) now, I've bought both the games for the Virtual Console on the Wii, so we still play the games together every now and then. It's surprising how well they can help the conversation.
What is your favourite game of all time?
"MetalGear 2: Solid Snake" on the MSX2. No one other than Kojima could put as many successful, original ideas into a game. It was so ahead of the time when it came out, that people called the same ideas "ahead of their time" when they were put into MetalGear Solid eight years later.
Do you play games as much as you did when you were younger?
Oh, even more! When I was younger, I just played games for fun. Now that I have an interest in the industry and the artistic merits of the medium, there's a whole new depth to them.
How much has video games affected your life?
I can say without reservation that I wouldn't be the same person at all if I didn't play games. I started playing them at such a young age that they helped develop my personality, my interests and my perception of the world. They've probably had a bigger part in my life than my family!
