... and it's been 4 years since I owned a decent one. Meaning, every PC-exclusive from 2005 and onward has been left unattented for that period. Now that I'm all cool and hip again I was wondering if anyone had any essential game purchase suggestions?
I got Orange Box and Gothic 3 for starters. Any other games anyone feels MUST be played before being able to die happy? Basically anything but Driving/Sports games will do.
As a sidenote, the gaming rig is a gtx260, 2.8Ghz quadcore so it's decent, but not perfect.
So I bought a gaming PC...

Damn, being a fellow PC gamer I would love to give you advice on what games you should honestly play.
But the truth is, these last couple of years have been terrible for PC games, it has either been ports from consoles or cross platform games which means the game is always somewhat limited.
Plus most often I didn't find the storylines nothing to write about.
But I am going to give it a good try.
You play Gothic so I take it you like fantasy RPGs, a lot of people on forums where I come recommend The Witcher.
They recently released an edition of that game that includes a download that was released for the original version, you could try to track that down.
Deus Ex 3 could be nice but it still has to come out
Aliens: Colonial Marines has been suspended until 2010/2011 I think
There is Starcraft 2 if you don't mind RTS games
There are also loads of independent developed games.
I hope this was of somewhat use for you.

Re: So I bought a gaming PC...
Yeah, I have an Xbox360 to avoid bad console ports, but nothing still beats having a mouse and keyboard when playing FPS and RTS games.
I jsut grabbed Witcher Enhanced Edition and gotta say, it feels good. Some things feel kinda off, but at least it's something that was designed with the PC gamer in mind.
Any good websites that provide reviews/buying tips regarding indie games?

Hello XenoMorph,
I have been asking someone for any independent game review web sites, he gave me the following link;
http://www.indiegames.com/blog/
He also suggested to check the following sites as they also have Independent game reviews
GameBanshee
Rock, Paper, Shotgun
Perhaps it is of help.

Found a few games (Quest For Glory 2 remake, for one), should keep me busy for a few weeks. Thanks for the help!
