Mine is....Star Ocean: Second Story, I suppose. The discs are in good shape, but the case is rather....dire. ^^; If not that, perhaps Paper Mario or Majora's Mask.

Your turn!

Well its not really Rare, but the oldest game I own still is my "Original" copy of Snatcher for the Sega CD that I purchased at age 14 when it was released

I usually sell off my old games now, especially all of my NES/Genesis games and PC games.
Thanks to Emulation I have them all, so there's no need to own the hard copy anymore.

I do collect games as a result of playing them, I don't know which one might be the rarest for sure but it might probably be the Rez かんぜんとうすい (Rez Kanzentousui Set).

In my case emulation is not enough and don't like to incur on piracy, I rather play the original game on original hardware and wither on an Arcade CRT or using an upscan converter via RGB in order to view it correctly and with the best quality possible. I know this is very picky, but it is the way I enjoy things.

I definately don't pirate...

I do however RIP ISO's of my games so that I don't have to buy them again
And I only own ROMS that I actually purchased at some point (which is technically legal).

I do love to play on the original hardware, and when I can I do, but my Genesis/SNES/NES bit the dust years ago and I haven't baught new ones yet (no money).
Luckily I can still play ALL of my old PS/PS2 games on my PS3 (with slightly enhanced graphics) and I purchased another Sega Saturn years ago that still works.

I believe it would probably be the Europe/English release of Keio Flying Squadron 2. I don't know how many copies exist, but I do know you'll have a fun time finding it (and at a decent price). I could probably also say the same about the original game as well.

Not to derail the discussion, but what is the difference between using an older tv or CRT, rather than an HD TV. I don't own any HD TVs, so I've never gotten to test the difference.

Basically, a CRT is an interlaced device and an HDTV is progressive. In other words, playing older games with analog connections on an HDTV looks like crap unless you get good hardware to upscale/upscan the signal.

I have Xenogears which is a pretty rare and great RPG. I also own most of the PS1 Final Fantasy releases including 7, 8, and 9 along with some of the older rereleases. I also have System Shock 2 for PC. I feel like I have a lot more that I can't think of......I had some other rare games like Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 for gamecube and Vampire The Masquerade for PC, but decided to make decent money off them since I never played them.

My rarest game would have to be a complete copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn and I payed $198 for it. It was sort of worth it but I am glad that I could now say I own, played, and beat Panzer Dragon Saga.

by best name ever
I just found a mint copy of Lunar: Eternal Blue, along with a working Sega CD with a genesis hooked up to it and two controllers all in a public garbage can next to my apartment! No Joke!

It was well worth the price when I got it lol!
I guess the price is so high now because the "last batch" of SS games were released in limited quantities so they are pretty rare.

I had pre-ordered and purchased the game when it came out since Panzer Dragoon was one of my favorite Sega Saturn games, and it was a really awesome RPG take on the series!
I REALLY loved that game, and both me and my grilfriend at the time played it through in shifts! (she actaully beat it first so I made her promise not to give away the spoilers lol!)

Sadly I let a friend borrow the game a year after I completed it, and I never saw it again!
One of these days I hope they develop another Panzer Dragoon Saga type RPG!

I own alot expensive and rare games. The rarest by logic is this dev cart ( with game I am not mentioning )
for the GBA. Their is also unofficial pirated, unreleased games, as well. However nobody would even pay the price for them, due to idealistic standards.

I dunno if you'd say it's rare, especially nowadays when you can get it for download on PSN, but a certainly OVERLOOKED game I'm proud to own is God Hand for PS2

Just FYI, reprints, re-releases, and ports don't decrease the rarity of the original product.
