Over in the Policenauts Sega Saturn translation topic it came to our attention that Marc was a translator/editor on the newest MGS. Technoir then commentated that he should be doing the Russian translation as theirs is a weird and F'ed up lot with stuff like...

- No words, they have a influence. But the IAEA uses NPT to sign the country.
- Though we are a country.
- Affirmative.

1. From Peace Walker backstory:
>I am Chico. They ciphering me on a Cuban base in US.
>I'm made to fight. I am the cannon.
>Snake and his partner were running a small shop with military goods

2. From tapes:
> - All civilians, Huey included, should leave to their countries.
- Even you, you parisienne?
>Dr. Strange Lover's departure
>The chief of CIA, Goldman
>Kiefer watches all (no, seriously)
So I made this topic in an attempt to gather any more poor translation good. I hear legends about how bad the Spanish translation for FFVII is

Oh man, you have no idea how hard I laughed at those when I read through them a few minutes ago. Good God, that was beyond my expectations for a sub-par translation of a Metal Gear Solid game, but, truthfully, I am delighted that something so hilarious exists.

On the subject of bad localizations, I hear the German dub of Metal Gear Solid is particularly atrocious, and from what I've heard of it, that's true.

Oh, I also wonder if Marc & co. at INTAC also did the translation work for The Phantom Pain. Konami's been using lines from the English dub as far back as 2012's VGAs. That said, I don't encouraging people to bother Marc with questions about the game. Aside from simply being rude, NDAs probably prevent the spread of inside information at least until the game's release.

After my wonderful derailing of the Policenauts translation thread, I've just remembered a great translation which is pretty much on the same level as Ground Zeroes translation:

I know this is long overdue and you might have already heard, but GZ's Russian translation is getting patched up.

Yea, I've heard of that. Good for them. Still gotta check, though.

I think it's supposed to be released alongside the PC version on the 18th this month.

Yea, the localization is now far, far better than before. But Big Boss is still kinda messed up (Большой Босс just sounds like Large Boss to us).

UPD: NOPE! NOPE! STILL BAD!
The famous "damn fiddle" line is completely changed, now it's "They fooled us like damn children!".

This is something I don't expect to find its way out of the english version. Would other language speakers say something similar to this?
