Radio play?
I was looking around Junker HQ when I came across an item that claimed to be a Snatcher radio play. Could somebody please tell me if this is for real? The idea of a radio play based on Snatcher fascinates me!

Did it suck? I can't imagine a Snatcher radio play... What makes it dodgy in my mind is that they couldn't even bring back the original voice-overs (Jeff Lupetin at the very least)... And radio plays are a bit outdated unless they're made to comedically suck.

Why the hell are they calling Gillian Girian?Osiris wrote:It's a pseudo radio drama consisting of dialogue mixed in with game music, but it's actually in English, not Japanese. ("Oh, it's you, Girian.") The guy who plays Gillian even sounds a bit like Jeff Lupetin.

Well... "Radio Play" is just a fan given subtitle. The name o fthe disc(s) is simply "Snatcher". There were two erleases of the CD, and the differences are minimal and only in packaging. The original release (276A 7713) by King Records doesn not have the copyright text at the bottom of the cover and was released in 1989. It only has a few tracks with voice overs and it is more like the OST for the original PC 88 and MSX releases.
The re-release (KICA-2308) was underKonami's brand, and has the copyright text at the bottom of the cover. This last one was released in 1993.
Hence, both of them were reelased before the Sega CD version.
And BTW ratperson, Gillian's original name is Girian. =P (as 87th explained, that is the way to write and pronounce it in Japanese)

Personally I found the Radio Play sucked quite a bit, it was acted so lousy it was more funny than anything else. Just because it was so weird and rare in Europe it got a bit of a cult status.
Oh and just linguistically speaking, the japanese 'i' is not pronounced as an 'e', but the English 'e' is pronounced as an 'i'
In almost any other language, other than English it is pronounced that way....

Hmm, not sure quite what you mean, or even whether you are in agreement with me...
The Japanese 'i' is pronounced much like the English sounding of 'e' - as with the 'i' in "Bali". Used within words such as 'Yakatori'.
The'e' in Japanese is pronounced as the English 'e' within words such as"pet" --- pronounced 'eh'. Used within words such as 'sake'.
Anyway, let's not get anal about it and enjoy the hidden please within the script Drama script..."they are not emotional men" - laughed my ass off!
Actually, an interesting point; looking at the Kanji in the script, I believe that this line is actually closer to 'they are not "emergency" men'. I haven't looked at the text for a long while, but I remember thinking something along those lines... please do correct me if I am wrong.
