Kojima recognized by Producers Guild of America

Post by Marc »

Upon being selected as one of the PGA's Digital 50, Kojima had this to say:

I was surprised and extremely honored to be chosen for this distinction among such famous Hollywood creators as Dennis Muren (multiple recipient of the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects), Phil Tippet (multiple recipient of the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects), and John Dykstra (recipient of the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects and the Special Achievement Award). I hope to continue to use the magic known as the digital to create titles that live up to everyones' expectations, and offer dreams to people throughout the world.

Never heard of them before, but Kojima seems chuffed to be listed, so I'm happy for him.

Awesome, it's good too see Video Games being recognized more and more in awards and such.

Congrats to Kojima.

Funny how you can't find anything about Kojima here (the PGA site).
Apparently, they only award TV Shows and/or movies.

What, you think I'm making this up or something? Another basic Google search. Here's Konami's own page on it if that isn't enough.

This special award, the Digital 50, honors new media producers. It's different from their annual awards.

Er... lol. Funny how you thought I was implying that.
I was just saying that I couldn't find anything about it on the site, which is a shame but, at the same time, kind of predictable. Doesn't look THAT up-to-date, besides the awards thing.

Well, that was the way I read it. Can you blame me, given the ambiguity? And you did neglect to do your research on the organization and their awards.

And can you blame me for, maybe, not writing in english that well? That may have led to the ambiguity :P
Well, the only research I did was on THEIR site, with the search field, with both "Kojima" and "Digital 50" keywords. Found nothing, moved on. That's why I was blaming their site. Could have more information.

Anyway, about the OP, do you know if they have some kind of order or do they just select 50 individuals and randomly place the names? I was wondering what was Kojima's position, if there is one.

Yeah, I suppose I can see how that can happen with a non-native speaker.

You can't always trust official sites to stay up to date, though, especially since the announcement was only made recently. And the order counts, yes. Kojima was #38. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3154591 :-({|=

38? Woah, that's impressive. Considering it's worldwide and they are only 50, Kojima SHOULD indeed be glad ^^
And I guess Mizuguchi's 50th place is not bad... could be better tho >_>
