SCD Snatcher help

Post by Junker_05 »

I'm sorry to say that I have a pirated copy of Snatcher on an emulator at my friends house. We're experiencing a few problems...

#1 - The intro is not there. All we see is the turbocycle flying up to the Konami Okami building, and it pisses me and Fez off.

#2 - The part where you go to the factory in a turbocycle, and after the turbocycle starts moving, this cutscene just loops and loops. And won't fucking end. The whine of the turbocycle gets louder, but we want to actually go to the factory. We had to download a save file off the internet to get past the factory bit, because, like I said, we couldn't actually go there.

Please help us! We're just two computer programming-illiterate sods!

Have you tried getting a new iso? I know some are better than others.

(If i'm breaking the rules by linking to this please say - it seems to be thought of as abandonware but I'm not sure)

EDIT
Indeed, it is not abandonware at all

I have heard that there exist certain pirated images (isos) out there which cause both of those problems when running on an emulator, although from what I've heard the turbocycle loop is more common.

Solutions:
Get a different disc image, preferably a real copy if you can find/afford it
Get a real Sega CD, again if you can find it. Every one I've bought and seen has gone for about $40 US, so it's not too bad. Also a good investment if you like old games, since it does not need to be modded to play burned games, so you can back your (out of print) Sega CD games up without fear of it messing up.

You should have 21 mp3 files, i too have the emulator gens, you have to make a folder and make a winrar o winzip file only with the iso and put in this folder, after this move the mp3 files in the same folder. Try this and if dont work send me an email to demondreno@yahoo.com.ar

i had too the same problem before, and i can say that if you make the steps i said before your iso will work correctly.

Thanks for your help. We got past the turbocycle loop about a month ago, I just haven't been posting much. My friends say the intro works and is fantastic, but I'm yet to see it.

But anyway, thanks a lot for taking the time to help out 2 computer-programming illiterate sods once again!

Ugh, sorry to resurrect such an old topic, but unfortunately I am experiencing the same problem with the loop. I have the mp3s 2-22, I've tried them in the folder with the ISO before mounting and after moutning, outside the folder both ways, all with no luck (I use Daemon if that matters). I have the Snatcher ISO that's available at most rom websites. I've also tried two different BIOS so I know that's not the issue. Here's a relevant link, but it's somewhat obscure in the final steps as to what should be done

No luck finding a save file after the loop either
Anyway, if you can help a bit more than what's already posted here, that'd be great. Thanks

Which webpage did you get your ISO from?

The names of the mp3's must be correct, there must be an mp3 track numbered before the iso file (track01.mp3, track02.iso, track03.mp3, etc. - watch out for spaces), and for the synchro to be perfect, cut down two seconds at the start of each mp3 track.
I -think- there must be 22 tracks total, even if the the last one isn't visibly used. For the last track, you may use whichever mp3 file you like, it doesn't matter; just rename it to track22.mp3.

This particular game requires the access to the correct named and correct number of sound files (the wav files in the case of the CD ROM) to progress.

Thanks for the replies.

Well I got my ISO from coolroms.com, which is the same ISO that is at romhustler. Basically the rom came with the ISO and 21 MP3 tracks titled Snatcher 02 through Snatcher 22. If it matters, I can't mount the ISO with the MP3s inside the ISO file.

In any case I tried what you said kitano, renamed the MP3s track01 through track22 and I named the ISO track02. I placed the renamed MP3s in the same folder as the ISO and then mounted the ISO and started the game from scratch with Perfect Synchro on. Then I got to the turbocycle scene and it still looped

I tried to cut down each MP3 by 2 seconds but it's really difficult with the program I have to make it exactly 2 seconds shorter, so I decided to not mess with it unless I really had to.

I feel like the answer is close!

Get the ROM file from www.The-Underdogs.info - so far, it's the only Snatcher Sega/Mega CD ROM that doesn't loop at the turbocycle scene.

Also, there is Edge Emulation(http://www.edgeemu.com), which is what I use, however it costs ($30). But they have THE best resource for ROMs on the net, definitely, and have extremely rare ones you will find nowhere else on the net, so they are worth the price.

Coloane - I've tried the above with a pirated copy that looped at the first turbocycle scene (and I didn't play the intro either), and it actually worked. I just mentioned all the above methods because that's all I tried. The emulator doesn't have to have Perfect Synchro turned on. So, the problem must be the length of the mp3 files.

I just don't remember the name of the application I used to remove 2 seconds of each mp3 track...
