MGS2 Analysis translation to Chinese

Post by Artemio »

I just found this today, but it seems someone found enough value on the MGS2 Ending Analysis in order to translate most of the thing to Chinese. I feel honored someone took the time for that.

Let's see how well it holds with MGS4, although the official acknowledgment of memes as the theme of MGS2 and The writing of Richard Dawkin's book as an event on the MG chronology point to it as still being relevant.

Indeed, I believe you were the first to discuss the relationship between MGS2 and memes.

That's great someone translated it like that. :)

I wonder if the translation is as accurate as those really crappy HK bootleg anime subs.

Hi, Artemio. I'm one of the administrators of the Chinese MGS fan site.
I posted the translation of your analysis 2 months ago. However, it was translated to Chinese by Whindson & 隐形人 in as early as 2003. So it was based on the first draft. The translated piece has been quite popular among the Chinese fans.

Your inspiring analysis has changed my view on MGS2, making it my favourite MGS games. And I went on reading The Meme Machine and G.E.B. after that. I want to say "thank you" now.

I also think if your meme-themed analysis is valid as to MGS2, then it is valid for ever.
We needn't take the later games into consideration. I think we should treat MGS2 as a standalone piece of work.

By the way, I've translated Driving off the Map, and I will put it on our site some time later.
I think the two analysis pieces are vital to the appreciation of MGS2.

I am really glad you liked it enough to do all that work and to read those pieces. My intention was principally related to sharing those sources and then in defense of a work I believe had more to it than what superficially seemed. Thanks for sharing it with such a wide audience.
