Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
I've been playing ALOT of Fallout 3 lately, and I came across a pretty big "homage" to "Snatcher" within the game.....
I doubt anyone who isn't a "Snatcher" fan would even notice it? But It was VERY obvious to a "Snatcher" fan like myself (you guy's as well).
There is a "Quest" you can do based out of "Megaton" city where you must go to a "minefield" and retrive a mine etc. The area surrounding the "minefield" is a blown-apart neighborhood, with only a few houses standing.
It turns out that there are only a few houses standing, and luckily they are labeled :
Gibson's House
Gillian's House
Benson's House (harry or cunningham?)
(There is 1 other house, but it is called "Zane"....nothing "Snatcher" related)
I searched all of the houses, and of course when I serched Gibson's House I was VERY surprised to find a minature model of the house inside! But i did not have the key to the model house.
I was up last night playing the game, and i stumbled into an office building very very far from the "minefield" only to find what looked exactly like "Gibson" laying dead with his head torn off! (you see alot of bodies in Fallout 3) ...and to my surprise it WAS Gibson! so i searched him, and found on him a KEY and a PEICE OF PAPER that read : SEARCH THE HOUSE!
So i rushed back to Gibson's House and opened the model house to find nothing special (i was hoping a snatcher would show up...LOL), just a ton of assorted items.
I'm hoping there are maybe some other hidden "Snatcher" surprises within Fallout 3, since there is word of a missing "android" who has changed his appearance mentioned in a "quest"....I'll update this thread if I find anymore goodies.

If you have found the "MineField", it's that blown-up town around it.Commander_AK-47 wrote:AWESOME!!!! I'm going to go find that right now, near minefield you say?
If you haven't gotten the "Quest". Just go to MegaTon City (near Vault 101), it's called "The Wasteland Survival Guide" quest.
Go see Moira, the owner of the Craterside Supply...it's the 3rd or 4th mission in Chapter 1 (for the guide).
Gibson's corpse is located in an Office somewhere in the capital, I'm sorry i randomly found it...and i forgot to notice where (i'll try to find it again tonight).

Re: Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
Wow, this is..this is just amazing! I never, ever would've thought there'd ever be a Snatcher reference in a modern game! Just amazing. I always wanted to play Fallout 3 (I loved Fallout 1&2) but some people said it was worse than the other 2 Fallout games, so I didn't buy it in the end. But I'll so try this game out now. Thanks for telling us your find, I still can't believe it..just wow.

Re: Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
This is unbelievably awesome, and I can't believe I missed it. I need to find the building where Gibson is.
Re: Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
Finally found the location of Gibson...
The key to gibson's model house can be found in the office building located at L'Enfant South, on Gibson's Corpse.
Good luck, and happy hunting vault dweller's!

Les Enfant Terribles is a book anyway (the author also wrote the Beauty and the Beast), and doesn't sound very related to L'Enfant South IIRC.87th wrote:Another Kojima reference, or just a coincidence?el_ash wrote:L'Enfant South

Les Enfants Terribles is a book written by Jean Cocteau, who also directed a film adaptation of La Belle et la Bête (which is a fairy tale : Cocteau didn't wrote it in the first place).Jack Stern wrote:Les Enfant Terribles is a book anyway (the author also wrote the Beauty and the Beast)

Re: Snatcher Homage in Fallout 3!!! (with images)
The fallout world is so big. When I came across the mini house i thought of snatcher but forgot about it from all the other crazy stuff in the fallout world. The game is just huge. Glad that you where able to See and find all the snatcher refs to put them together to looks like a ref or other wise just looks like random stuff. Now I wonder if there is a robot called "lil john" or somthing. And there is that mission where the android thinks he human. I wonder if thats a ref to something else or if thats a snatcher ref Like RANDOM thinking he was human
When you are getting your butt kicked on a game or getting frustrated take a 15min break. And most of all Remember it's just a game.

The reference is probably more related to Blade Runner, or its novel origin "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", which actually inspired Kojima for Snatcher. I think the quest is even called something like "the replicated man".akiba1953 wrote:The fallout world is so big. Yeah that´s a nice Mission.
You can either
The mission, when I remember it right, wasn´t so important, so you can easily miss it ( or donßt pay much attention to it) when you´re only rushing through to get to the end.

Yeah, it's a sidequest without any relevance to the story. However, i liked the way it played out. It was not only rather long butDOTL wrote:Yeah that´s a nice Mission.

Some nice detective work in there, too. Too sad that all those sidequests (or at least most of them) felt better than most of the main quest Would have been great if it would have been even more like Snatcher, like investigating people by talking to their relatives, asking questions etc. But then again, this would have been a whole game already anyways.
But since that Snatcher easter egg made it into FO3, maybe we can expect another Snatcher easter egg or even a whole (side-)mission in New Vegas?
