Something i recently noticed about Sorrow's Battle

Post by Finalfantasy7 »

When i often play Sorrow's battle i just try to kill myself as fast i can so i can use the revive pill. The only time i went though the whole battle was the first 2 times i played the game. Anyway, after a long time today i decided to play though his battle until the end of the river. What i just noticed after accidently running into one of the sprit waves was each time you get hit by Sorrow's sprit wave, you see a screen from the story of his showdown with Boss. So far i only saw 6 diffrent flashing images. They incude:

1. Sorrow and Boss face to face
2. Sorrow on the far right with Boss on left
3. Boss pointing the gun
4. Sorrow getting shot
5. close-up of Sorrow's face when he is screaming after getting shot
6. Skull of Sorrow
7. Some kind of bombs been dropped down from a plane, kind of unsure about it...

There may be more that i did not get, but i though it was a very intresting touch i missed in this game even after playing it so many times :)

Nice observation! I always thought it was simply a close-up of The Sorrow's face all the time.

MGS2 featured a similar subliminal imagery in which you can see Campbell's old CODEC face shot during the Crazed Colonel sequence.

I never noticed that either. The contrasting is so bad on my television, I didn't even realize they were pictures. Then again, I was trying to avoid getting hit the majority of the time.

What I meant was what does he say when it shows his MGS1 face? (I thought it might be the one where he quotes the weird chanting before you fight the Ninja in MGS1 but I don't recall.)

It doesn't really happen during any specific conversation as far as I know. If you keep your eyes peeled when the Colonel's face window when it changes angle, sometimes you can see the old face shot from the first game for a brief moment.

indeed.

The thing that always spooked me the most was just when his face would randomly go into an x-ray like thing where his skull would be there talking lol. Ah, good times.
