If anybody plan to play the Saturn version....

Talk about Kojima's hard sci-fi masterpiece.

If anybody plan to play the Saturn version....

Post by krelian »

....whenever it's ready, of course.

Yeah I know it's WAY too early for that but I'd just like to let you know that Saturn modchips will soon run out of stock permanently, so the sooner you get one the better.

I got mine from here:
http://www.angelfire.com/pa/Raluminat/forsale.html
very nice people to deal with

I installed it and everything went smooth (had to tweak the laser a bit though)
I made a backup of Policenauts disc 1 (special edition), changed the region with Satconv and it worked flawlessly.

this was probably not worth its own thread, but why the hell not?
I know there are many people out there, that like me can't stand emulators and prefer the real deal

Out of interest, what is going on with them that would cause them to be out of stock permanently?

I always assumed these modchips were made by shady companies in China, third party. Is the store just not going to be ordering anymore?

some hints here and there

SegaSaturnWorld
http://www.sega-saturn.us/beta/news.php
report they are no longer in production

I've also read a thread (can't remember if at Racketboy or Segaextreme) where people were saying this latest batch of chips was the very last or something along those lines.
In any case I doubt there's such a high demand for Saturn modchips nowadays so it's safe to assume those shady companies won't keep making them forever.
