Just got my Sony HB F1XDJ (MSX2+) =)
I finally bit the bullet and got an MSX2+ to play those games I've loved in hardware: SD Snatcher, Snatcher, Metal Gear, Solid Snake, etc...
I was able to get it with an RGB cable, however it had been re purposed to Euro SCART, luckily I noticed before blowing my XRGB-3's RGB21 port and reassigned the pins to Japanese RGB21.
Here are some pictures:
It was totally worth it, listening and seeing the real hardware adds a lot to the immersion, at least for me. It looks and sounds gorgeous.

I'm confused. How are you able to play the translated version of Snatcher on the old hardware?

Eh, close enough. I know how Artemio is feeling right now.

The RAM in this MSX is expanded to 256KB, and it is a just a matter of using the translated floppies and the real cart. Thst is exactly what I did, however I also acquired an SD Card storage cart, which I am using as "hard disk" and installed the game to it. The translation has the option to be installed, so I installed it form the floppies of the translation.nickdaring wrote:I'm confused. I have a question: Does MG2 run faster on your MSX, or roughly the same as it is emulated?

I have no idea, but can try it compared to the PS2/PS3 versions if you need that.

Is there a way to play MSX games on the original hardware without the carts\disks?

Yes, you need a megaflash rom with scc+, with this you can install the game in this cartridge
