Really, because I'm seeing sales that are like $120+ instead.
Yes, really. In The Netherlands we have our own Graig's list, www.marktplaats.nl
I bought my complete MSX2 Philips NMS-8250 for €35.

I guess it's cheaper in The Netherlands because the MSX computers were a great succes around here.
(Yes, Ebay can be more expensive but sometimes Dutch sellers will put their MSX computers on Ebay instead of marktplaats.nl)

Well, that has to do with the game, really.
before I forget, what songs will you put on your SCC OST? The original MSX soundstracks or versions from the SCC Memorial Series?
I'll record it myself.
I have a BGM Player Disk file for MSX that I use for recording SCC music.

Maybe this isn't the correct thread to discuss this farther, but if my info is correct you can use a tool to record msx music through an emulator? As an audio freak ,which MSX OST's are the best in your opinion?

I like MG and MG 2:SS, Penguin Adventure and the adventure of Usas. Snatcher has to be the best MSX OST I listend to so far (if it counts as true MSX music since you told me about the 'echo'). I'm rather new to the MSX scene but really like the 'noise' it can produce.

On-topic though: Each playthrough I'm beginning to appreciate the PCE OST even more. And now, like the SCD OST, I can't wait to listen to your SCC MSX joint disk.

Hmm...

I'd say (in a completely random order)

Konami:
-Snatcher & SD Snatcher
-Metal Gear 1 & 2
-Akumajou Draclua (Vamipre Killer)
-Contra (Kazuki Muraoka, the sound director of MGS, composed for the Arcade version)
-The Maze of Gallious
-Knightmare
-King's Valley
-The Gradius Series
-Yume Tairiku (Penguin) Adventure
-Hinotori
-Parodius
-Salamander
-Space Manbow

Non-Konami:
-Aleste 1/2/Gaiden
-Illusion City

Jonathan,

Yesterday I inserted Snatcher in my MultiMega. I wanted to play the game again because I didn't seem to remember the Mega CD version of Beyond Sorrows.
Luckily for me, I still had a safe file when Harry was killed and Gillian is in pursuit of Benson.

So I heard the song at the end of act 2 (like the MSX/PC88/PCE versions) but in my opinion the song was horrible. It was arranged in such a way that I disliked it very much. That must be the reason why I couldn't remember it.

But ,is that the only moment when the track plays? Or is the 'original' version used in a diffferent scene? It doesn't resemble the PCE version at all, let alone (my favorite) the MSX version.

Thanks for your list of MSX OST's by the way, will listen to them.
Damn!

It fit pretty well in my opinion.

This is awesome, especially the full 20 minute PC88 ending theme. Thank you so very much for this! I hope you're doing the complete Policenauts OST next.

I always liked the Mega CD version of Beyond Sorrows, not as much as the PCE one but still...and it was a good idea to play it during the conversation with Mika in act 3.

The real problem is the MCD version of Eternal Promise. Just awful.

Well, I could release that demo version I've been working on, but if I can get someone to decode the audio to the Saturn version, It'll be somewhat different in the end.
More tracks, Sound Effects, Voices, etc...

By the way, I'm planning on releasing an update to the PC-8801 Soundtrack. It will feature two more fanfares and a Sound Effect collection. Also, because I've added these tracks, I had to divide the OST into two seperate Discs. The previous version was just under the limit for a CD by about a minute or two.

I also updated the Composer, Artist, Copyright and Publisher information in the Metadata Tags.

*Update*

As a means of making up for lost time, I've decided to release the SNATCHER(PlayStation版) Soundtrack!
It's a very rough cut with little editing, so I'll probably end up replacing it in the future.
Remember to check the first page of this thread for the Download Link.
If you have any feedback please leave it for me to take in. Enjoy!

I've noticed something kinda odd. Some of the songs are named incorrectly or inconsistently. When listening to the song CREEPING SILENCE on the PS Soundtrack I wanted to compare it to the Sega CD version. I gave a listen and it was different. I initially thought that this was a song they might have changed, but I could have sworn that this song was in the sega cd version. After prodding them, I noticed it was labelled as "Danger Dance... and Justice For All".

I didn't listen to see if it's just these that need to be swapped or what, I just thought this was an oddity.

The track name for the Sega CD version is wrong. Change it.
There's a pretty widespread misconception that "Creeping Silence's" name is "Danger Dance & Justice All" which stems back to how the Snatcher -Joint Disk- named its tracks. You see, on the disc were several Medley tracks that were only named after one song, such as "Pleasure of Tension" which really consists of "At Junker HQ", "Pleasure of Tension", and "Endless Pursuer". Track 08, "Danger Dance...& Justice All", consists of four tracks (Creeping Silence, Criminal Omen, Virtual Image, and Danger Dance...& Justice for All) On top of that, many other names on the OST are just plain wrong. (Merry X'mas Neo Kobe = Jingle Bell 2042, Theme of Snatcher [Part 2] = AD 2042 Neo Kobe City, etc...)

Okay I'll admit to something: I've downloaded all of these but I haven't listened to them, or all of them at least. Well I started comparing them again and I noticed that the PC-88 version of jingle bells 2042 song is quiet. Comparing the next few songs the beginning of Decadence Beat and the first half minute of Entrance to Hell are about the same volume level, but they raise volume after a bit. The rest of the songs after this maintain the same general sound level, at least in the beginning, so I don't think this is intentional is it?

Also when the heck does "Master of Puppets Among the Disease" play? I don't even see the name in the PC-E version. I don't know why but this song is like digging at my brain.

Truth be told, I didn't modify the volume of "Jingle Bell 2042", it's actually that quiet in the game. The first time I played the PC-8801 version I almost didn't realize it was playing, so I thought something was wrong with the emulation. Kinda' funny, looking back on it.

As for "Decadence Beat" and "The Entrance to Hell", yes that was intentional. There are two variations of each of those tracks. The softer ones play outside of Joy Division and Outer Heaven respectively, while the louder ones are reserved for inside these locations for obvious reasons.

"Master of Puppets Among the Disease" plays during the first part of the End Credits.

Can't wait for the Mega CD rip (I have only a bad rip with 56k bitrate, wah-wah-wah).

By the way, is it just me, or Konami itself gets confused with the track names? In some discs I can't tell which is "Danger Dance and Justice for All" or "Creeping Silence" or "Criminal Omen" - their names are sorta mixed.

My favorite mix up is pleasure/pressure of tension

That cool mix in Shin Fui~whatshisface cutscene? Yeah, I like it too.
pleasure/pressure of tension
Preasure of Tention (c)Zoom Tracks
Ugh, that almost killed me when I first saw it.

P.S. Too bad lossless rips of Snatcher related discs don't even exist. Well, at least I got all of them in max 216-292 kbit\s bitrate and feelin' LIEK A BAUS.

However they are all easily available in CD format on ebay and YAJ. None of them is too rare.

Too bad the shipping cost to my country is outrageous.

BTW, as far as I know, there is no "Pleasure of Tension" mix from the moment when Jamie calls you about Queens Hospital? (PC-Engine ver.)

GirianSeed573 - are you still out there? I was wondering if a Sega CD rip is coming at some point. That's the version of the game I played when it was first released, and I just played through it again recently and would love a full soundtrack!

Thanks...

It's a funny coincidence that you posted, because I've been working on just that while not knowing about this thread. I'm basing my rip's presentation on the vinyl, but with corrected names and "bonus tracks" (Songs that were not on the vinyl, including those on the Perfect Selection CD). I'm ignoring Faded Memories and Beyond Sorrows, though, since those versions were never released afaik.

I'm mostly done, but I've also run into some technical hurdles (I'm guessing the same ones Girian had). I'm having trouble being able to make clean rips of most of the songs in Act 3. I wish I knew exactly how elijahmodnar2k2 was able to rip them (like what emulator was used, what features were disabled, etc.). If anyone else knows a way around this, I'd love to hear it!

You might also want to use MDFourier to verify the emulator/hardware you are using http://junkerhq.net/MDFourier/

That's a good idea. I don't have the hardware needed to use it though, unfortunately.

Although, like I mentioned in the merch thread - there's going to be a Sega CD version soundtrack on CD at PAX West at the end of the month, so maybe this will solve all of our problems? (Honestly not betting on it and will probably just be the same content as the vinyl, but we'll see.)

EDIT: That's a moot point now since it's actually a cassette, not a CD.

Hello! The emulator version I used was GENS and it was on a Sony Vaio desktop circa 2002-2003. In terms of what GENS emulator I used, I would suggest looking for any latest versions dated summer 2003. Also, maybe the Sega-CD BIOS files would be relevant? I’m not sure, sadly.

I will say this as it might be important, I used a direct Snatcher North America Sega-CD copy my friend made for me of his game as he owned the original game. I used GENS and put the CD-R inside the desktop to emulate. I also had to use whatever relevant API file at the time for GENS to recognize my cd-drive. Perhaps that’s the key? I wish my parents still had that computer, but sadly it’s gone.

Long story short, whenever a song came on that I wanted to record, I popped out the disc as soon as the scene loaded and ripped a WAV file. I initially tried disabling PCM audio in the settings, but soon discovered that disable percussion instruments so that’s why I tried popped the cd out instead.. Maybe someone could edit the snatcher ISO and mute the PCM file with all of the voices? I’m not sure... :(

I love what you all are doing.
