Got the patch working, works good enough, runs nicely in SSF! The only issue I have is there's a bunch of rapidly flickering Black lines? It's not as bad (but still noticable when looking) when a video is playing but when the "ingame" stuff or even the main menu kicks in. Probably just an emulator setting issue, I'm sure there's a way to fix it.

EDIT: Actually looked it up myself this morning before work, found that these flickering lines go away when you go under the "Program1" tab in Options and disable "VDP2 Draw Thread".

Never ever saw those black lines in SSF. Game ran always perfect under SSF in my system. And it's an old gamer notebook. Can't help you a lot. To say you the truth i've spent most of my time using Yabause for its debugger and real Saturn hardware.

Are you on the latest version of SSF (R4)? Try R3 instead. I had that problem in the past on R4, but with a different game.

I do have used R4 for my testings, and that's the first time I've seen those black lines.

I found a solution and it worked. I'll edit how I fixed it into my previous comment.

If you can, I'd suggest using Mednafen's new Saturn core. It's a new emulation core and is allot more accurate then SSF currently (but takes up more CPU).
EDIT: Never mind, I'm running into issues were the screen is flickering in certain areas in Mednafen.

I wanted to thank everyone involved in making this Saturn patch. It is great to finally be able to play this in english. I went through the instructions in the readme. Everything worked perfectly, and I am able to play the game on real Saturn hardware.

Hey guys, great to hear that Policenauts is finally getting translated on Saturn. I already played the game on Playstation, but I may give this a go as well. Anyway, I've had experience creating Custom Covers and I wanted to take a crack at making this one. I wanted to make it like an accurate Saturn Konami release back in the day, as you can see for the covers of their limited US releases like Contra and Crypt Killer, the reserved the top section for both their and the games logo

ImageImage

So going with that, this is what I have so far, I'm not sure if I'll keep the "FULL ENGLISH TRANSLATION" part in there though. I picked the specific image, because I feel it worked the best with the size given

Image

Love some feedback ;)

I definitely suggest people who played the PS version play this version as well. There are enough differences (in the game and the translation) to make it worth your time.

I'm really glad someone is doing this! I would suggest getting rid of "FULL ENGLISH TRANSLATION", mainly because the voices are still in Japanese. As far as which image to use, the only other one I think could work with that space is the Vetruvian Astronaut. But then with the white space elsewhere, I think its black background would clash with that.

Looks great! If I could make a suggestion, it would be that you take the screenshots from the Saturn version, since the subtitles are slightly different in those images you have.

So for anyone using SSF_R4, How do manage to not click out of the game window on shooting segments? I'm playing the game with a mouse and anytime my mouse manages to hit one of the top corners of my screen it closes the emulator, should I just switch to a pad for that segment if I can?

Your welcome.
Newer mednafen builds don't have the screen flicker issue I was describing in that old post.

As a general recommendation (unless your hardware doesn't allow it) don't use SSF. Mednafen is the Saturn emulator the world has needed for a long time.
