Has all interest in Boktai died?

Post by Ghost »

Hello people,

This forum and the internet has been quite quiet about the Boktai games since Lunar Knights was released years ago and now I am wondering if the interest in the game franchise has truly died :(

I honestly hope not as I rather liked this little series and would love to see it being revived on the 3DS or another mobile platform.
Any other people here who would like to see Kojima's company revive this franchise?

Would like as well, but sale records show that maybe not a lot of people care. =/

Hello Artemio,

That is a shame.
Another franchise that has died a quiet death.

I have often brought up in the past that developers should focus more on creating new franchises than always rehashing old ones (think of popular Modern War shooters, or Final Fantasy games in Japan), but I do wish that little know series like this one that have a lot of spirit(spunk?) should get a few more sequel to show themselves to the audience before they are finally retired.

I just really liked the "Wild West meets Vampires and Gothic horror" atmosphere and wanted to learn more about the world and its history. (what was the old world like before it was hit by disaster, and what was the nature of the calamity?)

I think Boktai remains a decent cult following, even if it doesn't have as dedicated a fanbase as MGS or Policenauts/Snatcher do.
It certainly stands out among the other games for GBA due to the sunlight mechanic. It may be underrated, but it's definitely remembered well.

Funny, I've just started replaying Boktai. I've been trying to figure out how to stream it off hardware once the weather gets nicer. Fun fact, plasma orb light things emit UV and you can get a full solar sensor off them.

Anyway yeah, Boktai is so underrated. I think the solar sensor caused people to write off the games as a one trick pony gimmick but they are so full of high quality production and gamelan. Really some of the best music and sprite work on GBA.

Also makes me sad Lunar Knights ended on so many cliffhangers lol. If only...
