Oh also, I almost forgot...... In japan, I'm hoping to pick up Perfect Selection, Black Disc, and MidiPower v5.0 as I've heard tasters of the tracks and they sound ace! -

HOWEVER, could you please tell me if the Radio Play CD, actually has music tracks as well as the acted radio-play itself. The track listings make me believe that there is music contained on the CD also - are these exclusive tracks? or from Zoom/MidiPower? - are they even any good? Thanks!

Great man. Just some words of advise. be ready to search for a while.. I guess you are going to Akihabara for this. I believe it is possible to find at least one of these soundtracks. I would just recommend, that if you don't know Katakana at least, that you memorize some names. Visually. Such as Konami (コナミ), Snatcher (スナッチャー) and recognize some of the characters in the spine of the discs (check the spine cards for those). Having those printed or written down will help you a lot in case you are not familiar with Kana.

While there I didn't know but a few characters. And it took me quite a time to search. I didn't find any Snatcher soundtracks, but several I wanted from Castlevania, Metal Gear, Street Fighter, etc.

Good Luck!

"Radio Play" is just a surname, not the name of the disc. The real name of the soundtrack is simply "Snatcher". It does have some tracks with voice overs and acted parts of the game (interesting to listen at, bad acting but fun, in English) but most tracks are music. Just keep in mind that the music is previous to the CD games, I love this disc and all the music it has though. As a matter of fact there is not a single snatcher disc I don't listen to regularly... (Though my friends don't seem to appreciate the older ones).

Just to help a bit, here is a picture of the spines of the discs... You'll be safe checking for those bands on top of late 80s early 90s Konami soundtracks.

Some of this have spine cards, some don't. but the text is the same. I also took the second picture with the discs showing the other spine (from where the case is opened) so you can see that thery do have titles in english.. butunfortunately it is unlikely you'll find them facing this way.

They are in the following order:

1989 Snatcher "Radio Play" スナッチャー 276A-7713
1990 Perfect Selection Snatcher & SD Snatcher パーフェクト・セレクション スナッチャー&SDスナッチャー KICA-1017
1992 The Syber Punk Adventure Snatcher Zoom Tracks
1998 Snatcher >> Policenauts Kojima Hideo Kantokusakuhin Ongakushu Black a.k.a. Kojima Black SNATCHER>>POLICENAUTS 小島秀夫監督作品 音楽集 黒盤 KICA-7888
1998 The Cyber Punk Adventure Snatcher Zoom Tracks スナッチャー ズーム・トラックス

Good luck with that. I got lucky in the fact that somebody was selling them on eBay. It cost me a ton, but well worth it.

Hey - thanks for all that Snatch! Thanks alot!

I can actually read Katakana, so searching on my hands an knees under SU is on the cards. - As you know, I've been to Japan twice before - The first time I picked up Zoom tracks in a tiny store in the middle of nowhere. The second time I went I found Snatcher Battle on the 5th floor of a store in Akihabara AND I found the Snatcher (radio play) - but as you say - it's only called SNATCHER. At the time I thought it must have been the PC/MSX sound track - and considering I had just bought the SCC memorial in Osaka a few days before, I left it... (and because it was quite pricey!) It was looking for more definate info on the soundtracks that lead me to discover the Junker forums..... and thats how I became a Junker. (?)

I might print that image of the spines and pin it to my forehead when entering game stores, to see if anyone can help me

So the 'Radio Play' contains tracks created before the CD games - hence the MSX type screen shots which lead me to believe the sounds were more SCC quality like the memorial disk - I take it that they are atual synth orcestrations though.

Thanks again!

Best place is Yahoo Auctions Japan. You can find almost anything on there, it's simply a matter of price and time. Even if it's not there now, it will be sooner or later. Beats searching shop to shop, although that is fun too, and sometimes you can find stuff that way. Like on Friday, I found a complete Saturn Snatcher for 2 bucks. Even had a scratch off contest card! Japanese take good care of their stuff.

For example, right now on YA, all the PN soundtracks and a few of the Snatcher ones are up. So are MSX Snatcher and SD Snatcher. The thing is, most of them don't ship overseas, though. For the rare stuff, even the shops will have similar prices to the auctions (the owners know what's rare and what's not!).

If you want some help when you're in Tokyo, I'd be happy to if I'm free.

Is yahoo auctions only open to those living within Japan? I suppose I could have had my brother buy up some stuff, as he's over there -

but as you say, part of the fun is finding those rare items in a shop that looks like no-one knows it exists in some quiet prefecture. Also you can take a look at what you're buying, unlike in internet auctions... When I bought PCE CDRomantic Snatcher, the dude in the shop took his 3 (yes three) copies, layed them all out in front of me and decided to create the best quality version he could - he took a spine from one, the only stickers from another, checked for the best manuals out af all six, checked all the CDs for scratches, then the boxes - and proceeded to compile the best quality combination he could. He even played the disc so I could check if there were any Audio CD tracks, like in the MegaCD version...ahhh, nice chap! There's a few little gems that I found in my last two trips - so I may frequent them again.

Osiris - are you situated in Tokyo? If so, I wonder if you could let me know if you know of any particular stores that have some Snatcher items, or happen to have had them in the past... I already have Zoom tracks, SCC memorial collection with key chain, Snatcher Battle CD, Snatcher Saturn and MegaCD, CDRomantic, and MSX Snatcher and a few Policenaught pieces... I'm really out for MidiPower5 and the Snatcher and SD perfect selection. Any ideas?

Thanks again guys!

Home again, home again, jiggidy-jigg!.... gooood evening JF!

Man, it's hard to find rare Snatcher goodies on the street. Certain items, such as PCE CD Romantic, and Zoom Tracks (both of which I had already) were plentiful as was the Snatcher Pilot Disk, although almost all were without spine cards or with a damaged disk, but I only found 1 Pefect Selection Snatcher/SD soundtrack in my whole hunt - and believe me it was very extensive. My trip wasnt all about finding games, far from it, but good time was set aside and my brother, having lived in japan for ober 3 years, and a somewhat of a retro games fan, knew of some little gems of stores in the middle of no-where. It's very odd how I find no Kojima Black disc CDs at all and then in one store I find 3 that all look in perfect condition, and unlike most I see on ebay are thankfully not piracies.

Suffice to stay, 3 trips to Akihabara, a trip to Osaka's DenDen Town and many many trips to smaller (and rare stockist) stores throughout more rural areas brought some finds - but I would advise most people against hunting for Snatcher and Policenauts items in Japan - the harder to find items anyway... Expecially any non-game items, such as Soundtracks, cards or books. Oh year, I also found the Midi Power CD that includes snatcher - but as cash was short, I decided against it, as I believe the tracks were from 'Zoom' anyway.

So this additional CD - Snatcher, I believe it is required for your collection - It is known as Konami Ending Music and includes Snatcher and SD snatcher tracks. I have the track numbers and KICA code plus the price I saw it selling for, but these are on a piece of paper that is currently not at my home, so if you need it - let me know.

Oh yeah, I also went to Kobe! Can't believe I almost forgot that! I went to Sannomiya marketplace (the location of Joy Division) and the Kintano area (the westernied residential area where Gibson lives)...... I'll upload some photos later.

I also went to Kojimas house and watched him cutting his lawn (NOTE: this last statement may be a lie  )

Great to hear you had a good hunting, and also that you had a great time I believe. It is indeed not an easy task to find Snatcehr soundtracks... but if it is only one of the things you are searching for it is paradise ^^, at least I greatly enjoy browing those stores.

Yes please, if you could provide me any more info on taht soundtrack, I'll be grateful. I am currently in the middle of one of those "work rishes" I have every now so often... and Monday is my deadline. I'll check on later.

Yahoo Auctions is the best place for finding goods in Japan. It's like having the stores come to you, if you're tired of checking everywhere for that one item you want. I've seen almost everything on Yahoo Auctions at some point or another, and even things I've only seen there - including a real Policenauts Zippo lighter.

The is the CD I discovered in Japan. It isnt rare, its just that many people may have not taken the item (or had the oppertunity) to read the track listings.

The CD is called:

KONAMI ENDING COLLECTION
KICA 1046~7
Disc 1 : Track 11 Snatcher (MSX)
Disc 2: Track 17 SD Snatcher (MSX)

I found it for 8000 Yen initially, but later discovered it was slightly cheaper else where, which like Midi Power Pro, its not an iten that I was desperate for - but part of the 'ultimate snatcher collection'. Happy Hunting!
